From the silent shadows of Harappa to the hubbub of the Sarojini Nagar market, we, the people of India, have walked a long road. Our recorded history is among the longest in the world, and our future looks bright!

At the stroke of midnight hour, on August 15, 1947, the nation of India was born.
This day had come following the heart-breaking sacrifice of numerous freedom fighters who had fought for nearly a century before the British Rule in India had finally withdrawn. The likes of Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Lakshmi Bai, Netaji Subash Bose and Sarojini Naidu had lent the country their passion and bravery, ultimately leading us to glorious freedom.
Every year the country unites in joyous celebration in memory of this fateful day.
The main attraction of this celebration is the hoisting of the national flag by the contemporary Prime Minister at Red Fort. Twenty-one gunshots are fired at the fort to mark the occasion. An annual celebratory address from the Prime Minister is also broadcasted nationwide. This is followed by joyful singing of the national anthem and other patriotic songs.
Parades and march pasts are also carried out by the Indian Armed Forces and the Paramilitary Forces both centrally and state-wise. Commoners dress up in the national colours of saffron, white and green. Public places are decorated with replicas of the Indian national flag. Sweets are distributed among all.
Across the globe, Indian Independence Day has become a holistic celebration of all things Indian, with even the global community sharing in these celebrations.
This Independence Day comes bearing extra happiness given the phenomenal success of the athletes competing in the Olympics who have returned victorious only last week! With seven medals won by the Indian contingent, it's safe to say the country's athletic future is in safe hands.

As India enters her 75th year of Independence, Crazy Creatives wish you a safe and happy Independence Day!
