I know what you mean though. Because I have the same problem and I am not yet able to make peace with it. That’s why I watched this movie only once, despite loving it so much. :( 😆

It did put Sameer in a bind of sorts cuz Guru Dakshina is something a student owes their teacher for all the training they provide. There is a huge importance given to Guru-Disciple relationship too. Guru Dakshina shouldn't be as big as a human being but a lot of people pick their faith over their love when they have to pick between the two, right? Sameer's life centered around music, it was almost like a religion for him, he had a career in music and he flew there all the way from Italy to learn music from "the best of the best." So, one can argue that he picked his music and the Guru-Disciple relationship over his love, which is a sacrifice in a way.

Him going completely silent would have made sense in that aspect cuz her father asks him to bow out of their lives forever. But then he sends letters to her.😆 And doesn't do much to know Nandini's whereabouts.

The father was an egomaniac not stupid.. he was one of those toxic parents who believe they own their children and can do anything with them

If music was so important to him, he should have stuck to it instead of canoodling Nandini.. it wasn't only about his feelings.. it was Nandini feelings and life too.. he had no right to sacrifice her like that without taking her wishes into consideration

Tell me about it. It's physically painful to watch the second half. I was traumatized the first time and couldn't believe what I watched. It was like someone punched me in the gut and expected me to rejoice with firecrackers at the end! 😆

I just watch their love story brew up in the beginning and then tune out now. Ugh.

I mean if he chose Nandini over paying off the Guru Dakshnina tab toh he would be for sure giving Nandini’s dad a good reason to throw him out and Nandini also wouldn’t have had anything to say. Sameer bechara was simply stuck between a rock and a hard place! :(

He wasn't a bechara.. he should have rum away with Nandini.. if he and Nandini could help her married cousin elope, they could very well run away themselves too.. they were pretty familiar with the concept

Can't disagree with that.

Like SK explained, GD is a big thing and it could be a big deal for even Nandini and maybe she would’ve lost her respect for him if he didn’t honor it. The scary father knew he hit upon a winning formula either ways!

So true. I didn’t enjoy Vanraj getting so many opportunities to be with Nandini and was just eagerly waiting for Sameer to show up the entire time. I remember rejoicing that bridge wala scene during the last song thinking that they actually met but it turned out to be Vannu’s nightmare. smiley18

Yep. First half it is for me. :(

By the time he discovers the truth, he is already in the eye of the storm. The problem is that Nandini couldn't just "do whatever she wanted." If she could, she would have never lost Sameer and that forced marriage wouldn't have taken place at all. The only reason she could go on that Euro trip is cuz Vanraj took that initiative for her and was by her side the whole time. No one in her family had her back.

So... technically, she didn't drag him. He dragged himself along that ride cuz he felt awful for her. He must have held himself responsible for it cuz he was the only person who had the "power" to make decisions in that scenario. And he wanted to remedy the situation for her.... at his own expense.

If I am not wrong, wasnt she was dancing nibooda for suitors to see her? Wasnt that meant she was single. Nandini and her families both have been lying, she as well could tell him before marriage but no, she kept silent. This is good, she wants to fall in love but neither she have money to go to her lover, neither she have guts to travel on her own, I wonder even if she knows how her family is or their culture is and their mindset is? Not only that, after everything, she choose the husband, either this woman is very confused or she is just in it for the thrill.

Anyway this movie dont deserve my energy or time, it is boring and mostly they show dumb people with bad decision making skills and how to put themselves into trouble, dont like to discuss such movie or such people because cannot understand their mindset.

Ash is dancing to Nimbooda during someone else's wedding function. She catches Vanraj's attention there but he is just a guest at that wedding. That was not a dance performance to line up suitors for her.

You seem to begrudge Nandini for daring to fall in love at all without considering her options. She didn't commit a crime, you know, and the development of their love story was gradual while Sameer was in the house. Sameer was not some criminal off the streets. I blame the toxic and controlling family members, especially her dad, for what happened after they discovered her relationship with Sameer. Depriving her of basic human rights and inflicting so much trauma on her was NO way to go about it. That was violence and abuse.

And she chose her husband at the end because he was a great guy who was a thorough gentleman with her. He even gave her the choice to pick between Sameer and him, something her family never did. Anyways, you can always choose to not reply if you don't want to stretch the discussion further, no worries. 😊
