Kartik ( Ranbir) and Chandni (Deepika) were college lovebirds but got placed in different cities Kartik went to Mumbai while Chandni is in Delhi. Both are coping up with new corporate responsibilities while trying to maintain their long distance relationship....

Despite their efforts to remain loyal, both seems to be straying away. Karthik is particularly interested in a young intern who seems to be clinging onto him. Since he is a good performer in his field, the young intern, Neha(Alia) idolises and remains most of the time in office assisting and learning from Kartik.

Chandni on the other hand, has a new neighbour, who is a upfront person, Varun(Ranveer) who openly and sometimes shamelessly flirts with her. And she also enjoys the attention.

Karthik was secretly glad for this because now he can contact his mother ship and plan the planet takeover for his home world Kapoorion without a nagging human girlfriend on his back.

But but but.. Chandni had a secret of her own. She belonged to a inter-planetary commission tasked to investigate and find the possible kapoorite on earth. She never realised she was so close. Or did she..

During childbirth, Neha passes away leaving a letter to her kid. The letter asks the kid to find her real papa. Karthik helps the kid, find his papa. Deepika realizes she is still in love with Ranbir but also with Ranveer. And then all 4 live together happily ever after. They are still paying for the kid's psychiatric treatment.

Story takes a leap of 20yrs.

They decide to go on a trip to mend their relationship, have some happy moments here and there but nothing works out. Both come back to their own cities and go on a date with their new love interests. A few weeks later Chandni realises she is pregnant but unsure about between Karthik and Varun who is the father.

Karthik can feel her adoring gaze upon him. “You have a beautiful girlfriend” he muttered to himself, “don’t let Neha’s allure engulf your senses”. In a desperate attempt to escape his badtameez dil, Karthik tries to call Chandni on her mobile. The line was busy. Ah shit, they’ve always had piss-poor phone connection, so connectivity is a bitch.

“Karthik Ji” called out a sweet voice from behind him. He turns around and finds himself face to face with Neha. “The big boss has called you into his office” she states with a small flirtatious smile, her little nostrils flaring in excitement. A slight dimple appears on her cheek, albeit an inferior one when compared to Chandni’s deep dents.

Karthik nods his head, not trusting his voice and proceeds to make way to the big bosses office. There awaits his boss, Mr Radhe Prem Pandey (Salman). Before anyone has a chance to talk, there is another knock on the door. Karthik opens the door and is stunned by the sight before him. His bosses young girlfriend, Kripa (Katrina) is standing before him in all her glory.
