Oh if we talk about CIA activities, we'll be here all day. They meddle in nearly every country. I'm sure there is a lot more than we know about. But whatever they do is ostensibly for the protection of America. If there is fallout from that, they're still not going to take responsibility in a way that harms America.

People *should* criticize but it won't change how they function. Every country's spy agency does the same things to the extent that they're actually able to.

Most of their early interventions in Guatemala were to keep the Communists out. The last time they were known to meddle was way back in 1996 when there was apparently human rights violations for which the CIA's chief of the Latin division had to resign. It's now 25 years later. How is the current caravan of people trying to get into the US related to that? (I'm basing this just on wiki because I don't have such clear knowledge about this)

Kinda long read but the Civil war in Guatemala caused it to be a very poor country with corruption and there is also gang violence from the Mexican drug cartels ( US also has a hand in that ). Most of Latin American countries have similar problems due to US meddling.

KC has so much going over where everyone in family enjoys. From couples to their Kids, how family embraces traditions is what makes life worth living.

I wish I could find that post made I made time have no energy to write how I feel KC is anything but regressive.

Yes, I remember it too. I too condemned Twinkle for mocking the festival.

But tell me Zeal, you wanting tge cultures to b preserved is all fine. But, why do u think that Bjp/RSS are the right ones to do tht job, and how does the restrictions of tge govt on the movies, going to preserve the culture??

I never said BJP/RSS are right one's to do that.

What I was trying to say was that how as a society we are failing with the lack of culture and traditions. (It wasn't just for India but it was for every culture rich society). And the point where I wanted to take forward the discussion (but failed to do so) was that entertainment industry could be an excellent medium for showcasing traditions if presented in right way however in the garb of FoE.. some with vested interests use them to malign cultures and traditions.

That's rightfully asked. As citizens you have rights and you have duties too. We must respect the National Flag and National Anthem, obey the laws of our country, protect the power, unity and integrity of the country.

It is the duty of citizens to do that.

It's all there in the Constitution of India.

Can u specify tge movies which were maligning the cultures? Infact, surprisingly, Bollywood is the most "conformist" and complaint industry when compared to the other southern counterparts or the Hollywood. Bollywood , very rarely, questions the traditions. Infact, it actively promotes and promulgates tge traditions of tge majority. Let me give u an example. I never came across tge North Indian culture , until I was working in Hyderabad. But, by that time, I already knew abt karwa chauths, wedding traditions, ghunghat culture, and other festivals. All this I got thru Bollywood movies only. If u r really worried abt BW not preserving the culture, then be rest assured, that's not gonna happen. Except for very few, everyone in BW will bend over backwards to satisfy tge powers that be. Till recently, when even South Indians are portrayed as caricatures, we can forget abt the minority representation, ofcourse.

It is also the duty as the Prime Minister to give regular press conferences. Godi has given none 😆

Haha....so cute of u to think that India is an democracy. Ofcourse, we have elections. But , recently, the international watchdog group, declared us as the "Electoral autocracy".

In March last year, Reports Without Borders (RSF) placed India alongside China, Russia, Iran and Saudi Arabia in a list of press freedom’s “worst digital predators”. The list compiled by the global media watchdog flags countries where companies and government agencies use “digital technology to spy on and harass journalists”.

The following month, the US government’s Religious Freedom Monitor recommended that the country’s state department should include India in the list of “countries of special concern”, in the company of China, Pakistan, North Korea, Saudi Arabia and Russia. It noted that religious freedom had improved globally but singled out India for seeing a “sharp downward turn”.

But ofcourse , the people in India, who are living under this regime, already feel the suffocation in our bones. Even b4 tge international communities declared it so.

No, thats wrong. Constitutional position should not be mocked at.

The article 74 , 75 and 78 of Constitution of India provides for the union executive i.e the council of ministers with PM as its head, nowhere does it state that Prime Minister has to hold press conference.
