Not conventionally good looking (+ her complexion works against her). No sex appeal. Cannot dance also.

Like it or not but these are the three biggest reasons why an actress makes it big. Acting comes much later.

Coz her PR couldn't promote her as a 12crore hasbeen star.

I dont know if the larger portion of the audience even heard of her 😆

what type of mainstream movies do you think she would've been accepted in? People who find her beautiful will always make sure to add she is "unconventionally" beautiful aka I understand she doesn't meet the common standard of what majority consider beautiful. Konkona is not pretty. To me that is perfectly okay! I don't think everyone on screen is meant to be pretty. Screens should reflect normal life and there should be space for all kinds of leading actors, tall, short, fat, skinny, sexy, unsexy... Unfortunately Bollywood and majority of Bollywood audience don't feel that way. We would rather watch pretty faces with no talent in mainstream cinema. Forget early 2000s when Konkona first came to Bollywood, we still don't have room for her in mainstream cinema.
