She basically tied her fear of finding out the truth as the reaction he should have if she laid out a similar situation in front of him. So she lied in order to elicit what she thinks is the right reaction to hearing a partner cheating.

Arre nahin aata na seedha kuch bhi karna. Even that restaurant jealousy scene she went ghumaa phira ke. These many girls, these many boys etc etc. karke.

She does not want to hear the actual truth. She wants to hear her version of the truth. Poore fasaad ki jad yehi hai

I think it is easier to understand quantum physics, advanced calculus, and rocket science all combined than to understand the workings of Malini's mind. 😆 And I am not a science student to begin with. 😆
