I don’t think Anirudh should divorce Bondita...it is sending out the wrong message ...Bondita has lived with him and his family for almost 2 years...so why must she be kicked out of her home,, if Anirudh divorces Bondita it will send out the message that men can choose to divorce their wives any time they want, ..Yes Anirudh may still support. Bondita and she will have a place in his house as a guest,,,I suppose but other husbands may choose to divorce their wives and provide no support to them.. Yes child marriage is wrong,..that’s definite...so the banning of child marriage is absolutely correct, but divorce after a few years of marriage ..especially if the wife doesn’t want it and has no family support is not in the best interests of the girl....

They should annul their marriage, divorce is not required as they didn't share a sexual relationship, Anirudh can annul it on grounds of Child marriage being illegal, which is the right thing to do

But the show is presenting how the law was bad and ruined lives of Child brides so I don't know

Actually nothing of this sort actually happened in history..the law was made for the future not for existing marriages, the law was made so that no child marriages happen in future...

Exactly. Someone should tweet this to the makers. You cannot change basic historical events. This is sending out wrong information and misleading the viewers.

lol...I don’t understand..I think in India when you do a Hindu ceremony with sindoor ..then the marriage is regarded as legal...but Anirudh put sindoor for manorama as well...I presume as everyone thought his marriage to her was real...so was his marriage to manorama considered legal as well ? is a second marriage considered legal as well ...I’m not from India so I’m not sure about their laws.. where I live although we have a Hindu wedding ceremony with sindoor mangalsutra etc,..we have to register the marriage with an official who has the authority to do so,..so we have to sign the marriage certificate and have 2 witnesses as well. Nowadays many Hindu priests who conduct the wedding also have the power to do the legal registration so immediately after the Hindu ceremony the bridal couple sign the legal wedding registration...

We don't know if Ani put sindoor on Manorama & Ani & Mano keep saying that it is a fake marriage so don't know about that but what I do know is a law cannot annul marriages existing before the law was made so the Brahmo Samaj people putting pressure on AniDita to end their marriage just so that they could send a message across the society was completely unjustified.

Registration is mandatory in Indian Hindu weddings as well. And no, polygamy is strictly prohibited here though some poor or very rural people do it and are not reported.

Although if you have wedding photos, proof of guests attending the wedding and other related proof that the marriage actually took place, then yes, it might not be considered as illegal, although registration is heavily encouraged and almost everyone does it.
