Why didn't Preity Zinta and Aishwarya Rai win for Zaara and Jodhaa?

Both are good performances but they didn't win best actress awards. Aishwarya Rai atleast won Star Screen Popular Best Actress and V Shantaram Best Actress Award but Preity Zinta did not win any award.

Who won in their place?

Rani for Hum Tum and Priyanka for Fashion. I thought Preity deserved it more. Kangana was more appreciated than Priyanka for Fashion also.

Why do u remember it after so many years?

Rani deserved the awards over them for sure.

I remember grumpy old Jaya questioned in one of the award shows how Priyanka was given the award when Aishwarya was nominated... she never watched Dhoom 2 I guess... 😛

Aishwarya never deserved the award, Priyanka was 100 times better.

May be Preity she deserves it more than Rani But both were average,

They robbed Tabu the award. She deserved it for her performance in Maqbool

The 2 (infinitely) better artists won.

I recently watched Veer Zaara and I thought Preity was actually pretty bad throughout the whole film except for few scenes here and there. That type of acting would be seen as meh if the movie released in current time.

And I am surprised anyone feels anyone but Priyanka deserved to win that year over Fashion (unless you are Ashu). That movie pretty much made her #1 at that time. As for praising Kangana, yeah I did too. But pre Queen Kangana always found her acting chops when it came to playing some sort of drunkard, addict, or mentally ill person. Everything else was mediocre.
