Where do I begin, what do I say?š„ŗ
Today's episode was full of the feelz and it's got me wanting to just gather up our babies and give them a hug. The two of them are badly in need of a breather - their lives took a 360 in under 2 hours.
The pain, the anguish in their eyes and their numb absent-mindedness broke me into pieces. I am so happy that Dhara and Gomby were being pillars of support throughout the ceremony because they clearly needed it.
Who chooses the songs for this show? Whoever did the song selection for today's epi can have a virtual biriyani from me - the songs and interspersed bg scores played during the ceremony were so on point, totally elevated the scene as well as saved it from being the usual marriage mantra+dhoomtanana trash ITV likes to serve for forced weddings. The song was so meaningful and combined with Alice and Kanwar's heartwrenching performance it drowned me in an ocean of feels. Ya Rabba is still playing on loop in my head as I type lol.
Speaking of performances, I must say all of them were very good today - from Dhara's empathy and guilt towards both her kids, to Gautam's smile showcasing how he is trying to take this in stride to Suman's tears. I couldn't find one character who didn't give me the feels.
I'd like to appreciate the makers for toning down Rishita's colgate smile when she saw Raavi and Shiva struggling with the situation, she looked sympathetic and I'm happy for that reaction. Her beaming joy is understandable since she did fight tooth and nail without Dev's support to get here and none of what's happening is her fault. Dev looked exactly as he should - guilty and apologetic. He didn't get to be happy at his own wedding and while that sucks it feels right considering all the lives and relationships he botched up due to being too subservient.
Kanta Kaki spoke my mind today - despite all their differences and fights, Shiva and Raavi are exactly the same when it comes to family, unswervingly loyal and selfless. Shiva earned brownie points in yesterday's episode for showcasing that as well as the unbiasedness of his conscience - he knew where the blame lay and didn't hesitate to point that out. Raavi agreed to the alliance for her Maasa - the strength and selflessness that must've taken is unimaginable to me, imagine having the world pulled from under your feet, watching the man who left you at the altar confess love to someone else, being heartbroken to the extent of attempting suicide and then being proposed to be the bride of his brother, a man who can't stand the sight of you. And yet, she found the will to do that for her family and this nature of both her and Shiva makes me admire them so much.
In reality, such decisions would be toxic because family shouldn't emotionally manipulate you into agreeing to a marriage you don't want, even if that manipulation is unintentional. Even so, we do see such occasions in real life as well, especially in traditional middle-class families.
The whole ceremony between Raavi and Shiva was very symbolic and the highlight for me was the part where they had to grab handsā¤ļø
How good was that scene, and how poetic. It was a premonition of how their relationship will play out in the future, they might not be ready to accept each other's olive branches, but when one does the other will give in too. Suman's dialogue about aag and paani is very fitting, and you could see a bit of that when Shiva loosens his fist seeing Raavi grab his arm.
Also, my boi Krish: Kahi ek dusre k gala na pakad le š¤£
I am very much looking forward to more of Krish's commentary on the Raavi-Shiva match about to commence at Pandya Nivas š¤Ŗ
