I have always found it interesting, he most of the times doesn’t remember Pakhi in the picture it is Sai who reminds him. Even before the wedding when she asks him why are you marrying me, he was speaking about them no where he was thinking of Pakhi until she asked him what will you tell her.

I think that dream followed by this scene I think depict the entire flow of the show. These 2 scenes are very good scenes which have been executed (I think).

As Janki also mentioned subconsciously he knows the Vaada was out of place and he yearns to be with Sai emotionally. Virat is an emotional guy and his connect with Sai was always emotional. But it is Sai who would also distance herself not knowing what to expect, she has asked her questions directly but hasn’t got the answers yet.

Agree! And even the mere attraction and connect he had with Sai in GC was much more than what he EVER had for Patralekha.

Yes! Sai running away, even I had thought of it so much forgot to add it here. Yes, @bold-italics that dialogue did come true in future when he said that haath pakad leti toh ghum nahi ho jati.

Now we all are in for the journey of Virat actually breaking out of that chain to get his love!❤️

Also there's a scene where she makes that phone call to him by mistake thinking she's called Aaba... He just listens as she keeps asking him sweet nothings -- aap kaise Hain, Aapne Khana khaya, aap jyada tension mat Lena main theek hoon... And he doesn't actually interrupt her although he's bemused. He doesn't consider it to be a wrong number but says, "Tabiyat toh theek hai" and he's almost annoyed when she says she dialled by mistake and hangs up with her usual curt responses thereafter. But subconsciously, although it was a mistake, to him it was some kind of attention she gave him and was so impactful that he just had to see her immediately even if disguised as a milkman.. it always makes me think that no one actually ever called him to check on him about these little things -- how are you? Have you eaten?

Sai's sweet voice really did him in... Generally, chaheeta betas are treated like kids with moms calling up after every meal to ask... He never had that kind of attention from anyone including Ashwini.. we were always shown the family telling each other "don't call Virat" and calling him was like a big moment for them for some strange reason as if he's on some secret operation where his phone shouldn't ring 😅

There was this one scene after their wedding where she's wondering if Virat would have eaten his meal and Ashwini tells her why don't you call him and ask but she doesn't. If she had made that call that day, he would have had a minor explosion in his heart 😂

His connection with Sai is at a soul level and it has been there since the moment they met -- it need not have been a romantic one even if they hadn't married each other but sometimes you meet some people who you connect with for various reasons. It so happened that Sai also became his wife due to circumstances but as Chandu has mentioned above and I strongly believe that too, even if he hadn't married her immediately as they did and had gone their ways with Sai living on her own to study medicine with his help, he would have only been pulled towards Sai. He would have fetched her....

I strongly believe that the reason why he married her was this very connection -- which came out in his dream -- it was his need to keep her close to him and not disconnect in ways that can never be repaired (suicide). Her attempt did shake him so much that it pushed him to actually seeing her run away from him in his dream that we are discussing here... Her running away in that dream was the symbolic disconnection that he was dreading (the same fear that made him visit her in the safe house after that mistaken phone call)

He never liked the idea that she doesn't like him and always felt some kind of comfort to hear words of validation from her... because he has always wanted her to reciprocate that connection. He doesn't know what to call it even when he blurts out to her that he feels a connection with her in the safe house.

I read some books on dreams and psychology when I was in 12 and that time I learnt dream is manifestation of what is happening in a our lives

It’s a mixture of events happening in our life and whatever we keep thinking about

Like u said Virat was attracted towards sai from gc days and I have no doubt if had never meet Pakhi he would have fall for him long before. The event when sai wanted to hug him and stopped in between had mark in his memory and as u explained yes that being completed in the dream was what he was expecting.

Also Also Also! When she confessed she dialed the wrong number instead of Aaba's Virat says: I see. Iska matlab Mere baare mein itna soch rahi ho ki apne aaba ke bajaye mujhe phone mila rahi ho!

Like he definitely wanted to believe in some sort Sai was either calling him to check up on him or was thinking about him so much that she called her instead of Aaba.

And yea, again when she says mera kya lena dena aapse, he just doesn't let her end the call but again extends the call by checking up on her.

The list won't end of how evident Virat's attraction/connection was to Sai.

And I have always said this that the dream played the deciding factor in Virat almost being adamant on marrying Sai and it wasn't just about the promise, it also had his selfish motives (the connection) which he himself didn't acknowledge and yes, from day 1 he was never fond of the fact that she didn't like him. Also several times during GC and post marriage also he keeps repeating I know you hate me Sai, I know you don't like me, I know I don't matter to you - I believe this is his way of giving her a chance to correct him, for once to say that she doesn't hate him, she likes him or he matters to her.

@bold-italics this is an interesting way the show could have moved and a way I often imagine SaiRat to happen, something I plan for an FF. Because I believe even this would have surely ended up in SaiRat marriage but not a deal one.

But yes I applied the same dream theories in analysing Virat's dream and believe this is the most the makers went into crafting a scene logically and beautifully.

Both of them have the same modus operandi -- they will keep using reverse psychology on each other expecting the negative answers to the negative questions. And both of them are tough nuts to crack 😅 so they will not answer each other and the cycle will continue at an intensified level -- at best, with a minor ceasefire.
