As strange as it sounds, Indian marriages are indeed decided by families but only the two people in that marriage can decide whether they want to break it or not. This relationship is protected by law and society more than any other relationship :) So family throwing out a person does not end the marriage until one of the two individuals want to break it.
For sairat, unfortunately they both do not want to break it, but not knowing the intentions of the other have put their relationship under vulnerable situation. Adding to that, Sai's public display of their dirty laudry has given more leeway to the family to decide/comment on their marital status.
Virat is the one who is matured and understanding in this relationship given Sai's fixation on deal and her own insecurities, he should step forward and clear his intentions before the family and shut them up. He was the one who apologized profusely and stopped Sai from leaving before and he is the one who is working hard to build trust and love with Sai. Even though he will be tongue tied when she is sent out, he should convey that he is not breaking the relationship. Writers should show atleast that much to stick with Virat's character and his progression in this relationship. I prefer him not being there when she is sent out. In that way, his character and situations does not look out of place in the current progression in their bond.
