Unforunately, nepotism has and will always exist, it's a very instinctive thing to do--make sure your childnre or people you know are better off and can reap the fruits of your labor.

I don't see anything chaning until someone from within (someone powerful) changes the whole protocol and brings in more structure. I def think it's a lot better now than it was in the 80s/90s b/c there's way more avenues and platforms and ppl can find success in man different ways thanks to social media.

Please tell me how the hell is nepotism killing business??? Nepotism exists because people exist who want to watch them and are obsessed with them. No one makes topics on nepo kids more than you in the forum. Even the fans of the nepo kids are not as obsessed with them as much as you are given your daily topics. So clearly forum ho ya real life they bring more attention that leads to more offers cuz they promise sure shot returns in most of the cases.

Also note that all the outsiders I've listed are better actors and have better filmography with huge critical reception to their films. So the whole argument of how these nepo kids get better films is a moo point.

Get out of your houses, go and watch a Patakha or a Photograph or a Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota or Laila Majnu and make them hits. No use sounding like a broken record. Nepo kids assure more business so no it isn't killing any business. Sad but true. Such is the world around.

You wouldn’t say or think this way if you knew the politics involved behind the scenes of filmmaking in BW specially when it comes to this recent phenomenon of in your face and “exaggerated” promotional strategies, high end budget, distribution rights and screen inequities etc. those actors don’t have “hit” films because half of their films weren’t even given a proper release or promotion that “premium” films backed by “super producers” usually get..

And there's nothing problematic about that either right?

I am not denying abuse of power and dubious and vicious strategies star kids and their kin employ . My statement comes from a place where after being active(in terms of following ) on Bollywood gossip/news expecting fair play or these stars having any conscience seems so foolishly naive .

People who want to make it in Bollywood or Indian film industry first need to empower themselves by facing the truth .

P.S . Where have you been all these days ? Hope you areokay.

Nepotism has also given us gems like Hrithik, Kareena and Ranbir, so it's not all bad. What is bad is the abuse of privilege and snatching opportunities from more deserving candidates. Sushant was a victim of nepotism, those blinds against him were slanderous and horrible. The system which endorses such acts of omission and commission is flawed and deeply toxic.

I know what I am saying because I am aware what happens behind the scenes.

Nepo-kids have the means to do it because they were born in a movie family and are stinking rich. They also have a great support system in the city if shit hits the fan. Those are facts, and in an ideal world that wouldn't be the case.

But taking the blame away from the audience is not going to help the outsiders. We have had 3-4 threads on Jhanvi since the Roohi songs came out - discussing everything from her surgeries to her improved dancing to even being called her breakout year. Sanya Malhotra's thread with her latest teaser had about 5-10 comments. It is clear where the priorities of the audience lie. There was no compulsion here from the nepo kids right - no PR running this forum. But its the reality.

Another example: Nepotism is prevalent in many other fields. But why is Bollywood the most talked about? Because it is the stream the general public is most interested in. So the positives as well as the negatives of Bollywood are highlighted a lot more.

Bollywood is the most talked about because it plays an influential part in people's lives and is the only source of entertainment for a lot of people in India. Can you name anything that is as all-pervasive as bollywood in India? Apart from maybe the government? So yeah, it deserves all the attention as well as the public flak it gets for its ugliness.

Anyways, you can ask people to stop eating artifically pumped up commercial broiler chicken and go for the organic option all you want but let's not forget that it doesn't take away from broiler chicken's ubiquitous presence. Majority is bound to give in to the easy access and can't be held accountable for not going out of their way to opt for the organic option. You're assuming that everyone is well-educated and fully aware of the ins and outs of the industry but that's not the case.

I will never buy that nepo products are up there cuz they're in "demand." They synthetically induce that "demand" with their oversupplying ways, if anything. Now excuse me while I go and look for Ayushman's next online cuz God knows it hasn't been promoted anywhere yet.😛
