Isn't it true for all people, not just girls? What is that saying in English - plenty of fish in the sea? Never be hung up on any one person. Keep moving on till you find someone who reciprocates. As crass as the analogy it's a healthy attitude to have.

I have a completely different and more accurate saying about women. There are three confounding things that no one will ever figure out - cling wrap, fitted sheets, and women.

Is it just me who can't get past the "chokri are like buses and trains" reference to put it into the "right" context and walk away with just the "healthy" outlook off it?

Isn't there a more decent way to put it? How does that line help with the male entitlement that's so rampant in 90's movies at all? Even today to some extent? To me, "chokri, buses, trains, etc" sounds more like another attempt to degrade women and cry sour grapes to massage the male ego more than anything else.

Before someone comes in and says it applies to women too, I'm speaking strictly of this dialogue in the context of 90s' movies, cuz that's where it comes from.

Yeah, there are plenty of fish in the sea, etc. and we've heard that since time immemorial but majority of the movies of the same era were doling out all sorts of ridiculous and problematic notions on love.

The phrase is older than the film by at least two decades.I heard it from my dad who in turn heard it from someone who was consoling another person who had attempted suicide over a failed love affair. The former had just saved the latter's life.

Way to throw a curveball ... loved how you raised the stakes with that one.

Your post reminded me of a train that got stuck in the middle of a tunnel while I was on my way to school for a final exam that was about to start in fifteen minutes. 😆 I kicked the door and yelled at the driver who was mega pissed at me, even rallied up people in the train to prod the driver to move the heck on but he wouldn't budge cuz there was a chain of command and he didn't have the "permission" to move. If I could jump out of the window then, I probably would have! 😆

Yes, I did....😆 I don't even wanna entertain the other thought. 😳 but yes, the train moved after a while and I was fifteen minutes late for the exam. The professor was kind enough to let me sit for it as long as I finished on time. But to say that I literally lost my shit and raised hell would be an understatement for however long that train was stuck in that tunnel (it felt like eternity). The driver was also visibly about to explode .... poor guy, it wasn't his fault. I guess the moral of this story is that you should never rely on public transportation like buses and trains when the stakes are high cuz you never know which one will betray you at the worst possible time.😆
