What a cringeworthy saying indeed.

The frequency with which women hit on men is FAR less and (subtle) than the frequency with which men hit on women. Not saying that it should be that way but it's the way it's been and still sort of is.

Men flock around women, routinely catcall and hoot in the streets, ask women out to the tune of several times a week whether the women are interested in them or not.... and I imagine women in the 90's were far more reticent than they are now when it came to expressing their interest. So how does that make women "buses and trains... ek aayi, doosri chale gayi."

I guess that's what helped some of them men sleep at night in the 90's but fortunately, that sexist bullshit is somewhat dying. But tell me why it doesn't actually make FAR more sense to say that men are like buses and trains in women's lives instead?...logically speaking, of course.😆

It’s said by Mahakavi Popatlal. Popatlal ko toh khud ladki ke vaande hain. Sour grapes like situation probably.

Yep, it's the standard consolation line akin to there are plenty other fish in the sea. Not just the one or the alternate in films you really don't want but date/marry because the one is unavailable. 😆

It's a far healthier outlook than the insistence that the person who doesn't want you or you can't have is THE ONLY ONE you must pine over or stalk until you either get them or ruin your life/drop dead/marry someone you don't want.

While the comparison to inanimate objects is a bit eh...

The ideology is progressive

It’s actually telling guys to move on if it dosent work out with one girl

Instead of stalking her, insisting she’s the one when she’s not interested, ruining ur life thinking abt her, not concentrating on other relationships / studies / career

It’s like a causal approach to dating than going full blown aashiq

See the quote in context. It merely means don't moon after girls who are not interested.
