I've really begun to respect Neha after this noble gesture of hers. She seems to understand the pains and struggles for real.
Same here, never liked her singing but I guess she won me over with such kind gesture and having a heart in right place 🙌🏻
Oh man this was heartbreaking. I don't even know what to say other than that I hate people who refuse to rightfully give others what is theirs. Such people should be condemned & should be stripped of their power & position.

Change is slowly happening in BW like they acknowledged 90’s singers in Coolie remake songs.
Hopefully, in near future, we’ll see that BW will be forced to give royalty and credit to lyricist, singers and music directors who’s sweat and blood had made the song popular among the masses.
Ashley,
Does this happen in Hollywood industry too?
Are the artists ( lyricist, singer or music director ) over there get credit and royalty for their work?
@bold
Absolutely needed. Such deserving talented artists ko industry ne peeche chod diya. Sad.
More ❤️ to such artists.
Megha re megha and Ek Pyaar ka Nagma Hai is in my all-time-fav songs list, Pyaar ka Nagma is such a beautifull evergreen written song, Santosh sir would've earned so much royalty from all these song, all his lyrics were so beautifully written & those songs were hit always. There really needs to be reform in music industry, lyricists, composer and all should be paid royalties.
I remember that news years ago, when it was reported that his son and daughter-in-law committed suicide, luckily their child survived, it was heartbreaking to see Santosh sir and his wife crying.
This was so heartbreaking, I cried so much.
Santosh ji has been thru so much in life and is still so motivated, it was incredible yet painful to see it. I feel so so so much for his granddaughter, she must be 13 or something now and only has her grandfather. I wish something happens so that he lives his life with respect, recognition and financial stability...and there is more than enough for his granddaughter...

The singers have earned a lot from stage shows and live shows. More than them, immediate funds need to be given to the true stars of a song i.e the music director and lyricist. Many have sacrificed, many have been forgotten, and its been haunting me for days now.

Because they have no heart and are robbing openly.
@bold: the people you are mentioning here are the label owners, whose arrogance and heartlessness has costed so many artists 💔

Not every singer is a performer.... Earning from shows only possible when u have skill to entertain live audience... Haven't seen kavita, anuradha, sadhna sargam, shabir kumar, m aziz making out huge in live shows

The ladies u mentioned all perform on stage regularly...Shabbir Kumar also does shows...M Aziz, om shaanti, passed away in 2018.
My point is that most singers are much more richer and well off compared to music directors and lyricists. And immediate action should be for the ones who need it much more.
Singers get their own share of royalty from a different source in India...but abroad singers don't really get royalties unless they co-write a song.
If all these singers, Music Composers and Lyricist had supported Lata Mangeshkar's stand many of them wouldn't have died in penury.
She had demanded a 5% royalty from the producers share and had hoped that Rafi would support this just demand. But Rafi opposed her. I guess, so she cut a deal for herself. This kind of Royalty was given to select Music composers, not all MC's. Lata too wanted it for her songs.
Rafi's logic for opposing Lata is so bad, he did not even realize that he was rejecting his status as a creative artist. He was part of an artistic creation and yet he wanted one-time payment while music companies earned money whenever that song was played anywhere.
Lata Mangeshkar was also the one who insisted that names of singers be printed on the covers on the Vinyls. Earlier Music companies never printed names of singers so people had no idea who the singer was.
So if singers, music composers and lyricists and their families, , are getting royalty for their artworks then it is significantly due to the conflict initiated by Lata Mangeshkar.
