I COMPLETELY AGREE TO THIS POINT
BUT IT HAS A VERY IMPORTANT PSYCHOLOGICAL REASON WHY IS IT THE REASON CAN:
Films vs serials jodi: When a film ends or removed from theatre we never feel sad or cry, because we know that the jodi will be back in another film because films repeat thier jodis but when a TV serial ends we feel so sad why because we might never see them together, like there were so many iconic jodis loved by fans like one of my favourite is armaan riddhima but as of now we never got Karan and Shilpa in another serial, films Akshay-Katrina is loved in one film but audience never miss them because they appeared in more movies
Satisfaction: When a serial ends whether its happy or sad, we don't get satisfied there we need not a dil mange more episodes we desire like for eg lets take a festive track say holi before holi we see day before the couple had a major break up and not in talking terms and they are not playing holi in holi party, where we wish for a romantic holi hero applying heroine color, but due to break up track we didn't get and by next holi if the serial ends we end up getting disappointed and we as audience want more hot romance like bollywood films where we want dil mange more but reality is we wished our desire fulfilled
Themes/Genres: Today we miss shows like Shararat, KMHL etc when they end we cry why because we don't know whether we get the same kids genre show again nor there are any youth genres as of now also after madhubala there is not a film actors love story is shown but in bollywood we dont because we get day to day action romance thriller
Solution
There is a need to rid the fear of dil mange more in audience there should be finite series in television because the quality can be maintained and have all of audience desire fulfiled like this festival shown, this story shown, this romantic sequence can be shown so audience don't want anything else and is ok with the serial off air,and because our desires are not fulfiled the serial doesn't get butchered very badly,it is not fair to tv actors also because of this they stuck in one character and we don't get to see them in new serial new character, also all types of genres shown in tv serials regularly that we don't miss any genre for eg Akshay Katrina first film was Humko dewaana kar gaye so what if they stuck in the sequals of that film, we never got to see them in other beautiful stories like namaste london de dana dan etc, like tv recently done repeat jodi of akshay-sheen of piya Albela what if it was still running the characters have butchered very badly till now but in Indiawali maa we get to see them again the characters are more fresh and modernized than thier previos outing, so repeating jodi is the the best way that audience will not miss that jodi because they comeback, like I wish Vivian-Drasti, Karan-Shilpa together again, if this all followes there is no illness of this dil mange more
Whatever you said is true but it's not right to force makers to extend the show whose story is done. Extending the show leads to ruining the story plot and butchering it's characters. Remember Tumhaari Pakhi was supposed to be very short finite show but multiple extension not only ruined the show but also killed it's ML Iqbal Khan's character. Even a show like Aladdin's story plot got ruined after 500 episodes and it's characters got butchered. This is what happens when a overstay it's time. But viewers don't understand this. They only want to see their favourite actors no matter how crap the story turns out in the process.
