So true. I've been trying to think hard for a comedy with infidelity by the leading lady. But nada. As you said - it's always a side character for cheap laughs.
For some reason, the cheating man is a source of comedy. We are supposed to laugh at his antics and forgive him in the end. But if a woman cheats, my oh my, the world is collapsing into a pool of tears. There was a small part of me that hoped that the remake of "Pati, Patni, Aur Woh" would modernize it with a take on female infidelity.
To be honest, even in western movies, I am hard-pressed to find comedies about women cheating where it is forgiven/accepted in the end. The only one I can think of is "Imagine Me & You." Maybe Swedish "Kyss Mig." I guess you could count Carol in Friends too (but she's a side character). But that brings me to - why are all cheating women gay? 😳
