Kaatelal and Sons - Watch All Latest Episodes Online - SonyLIV

At the core, Dharmpal comes from an old school of thought where he considers the men to be the breadwinners and women to be the breadmakers. That is exactly why even when Garima and Susheela actually did the right thing by punishing Jagat's goons when they insulted him, his concern was their image and marriage. The second concern is fair, although he did try to force it when they are still completing their degree and Susheela vehemantly disagrees with it. He loves his daughters but having them earn (like he said in the hospital + when he handed them the heels and hair straightener) is a matter of shame to him, not pride since that signifies the incapability of the men of the house.

Shishu, as we know enjoys cooking while Susheela loves boxing (which was his passion too!) but he fails to encourage that since it seems like a swap of gender roles to him. Then again, this entire incident of Vikram using his mother's surname on the NOC, which made DP uncomfortable and he ended up passing unneccessary directives and judgement which obviously did not settle well with the other party. Vikram and Shishupal still on amicable terms even post that in college was a treat to our eyes, coz it just shows how even though Shishupal follows him, he knows what is right too.

He had trouble trusting Gunnu and Sattu even when his friends (+ some customers) vouched for them and their talent and later just because of log kya kahenge and to counterreact to Jagat trying to tarnish their friendship, was willing to get his daughters married to the boys who run his shop and potientially even take away whatever independence they had left to govern their own future. Meena also brought up this handicap of thinking as an interesting observation on the other post.

Even though in a real-world situation, the boys are not bad, there is no basis to a relationship when his daughters are almost begging him to give them a choice on deciding atleast that aspect of their lives. The entire Susheela-Pramod alliance was also because he wanted them to marry asap and then be seen together, because he hugged her in public and Chanchal witnessed them. Caring about the society so much that you disregard your family is not a great trait.

Maybe the revelation of Gunnu/Sattu being Garima/Susheela and him getting out of the wheelchair will happen simultaneously, as he will forgo the handicap of thoughts and accept a progressive reality.

Perfect title. Just aptly describes his current phase.

It's something he's most possibly seen growing up or conditioned with thus the formation of the ideology that a women are situated as homemakers whereas men aren't. As a father, he is concerned about their image from a societal POV. Something which Mini pointed out to him --- hearing this statement wasn't an easy pill for him to swallow & the pill remained undigested even after her advice. He is concerned for their future but the methodology is incorrect especially in the era we reside in. No matter what sort of work the girls are employed for, if he notices money in their hands, he feels embarrassed about it.

Hmm, Shishupal did feel content on Kusum raising her voice during the kidnapping fiasco & does agree about retaining maintenance digitally because there is logic behind it such as potential robberies. He does get happy in serving his handmade food but gets criticism from DP. DP probably raised Shishupal & grew up witnessing this stereotypical behavior and owes it all to his elder brother and I believe this was mentioned when SP chided Chanchal for mistakingly speaking up or something in the earlier phases of the shaadi track or even in prior episodes. He has mentioned about the promotion in front of his family such as his brother, son and wife --- Chanchal wished for SP to speak up for himself while maintaining respect for his elder brother. Let's see how he progresses towards that phase.

Not only with hiring Gunnu/Sattu or the usage of advertisement to promote K&S, he seems hesitant to try out new things + like you mentioned, rivalry with Jagat over his personal and professional property, it just created new hindrance in his mind constantly. Sorta like competition with Jagat. Both as his daughters and his employees in their masculine form, Garima and Susheela have to bear the brunt of getting coerced in an unwanted situation. Whether the object is animate or inanimate, he's hesitant to accept the change. Obviously, the climax will be when he sees his own kids collaborating on ensuring that K&S thrives in HB. When he saw the outcome of releasing just one ad on SM wherein people were lined up to get a hair cut or shaving then he did wholeheartedly accept the change but was oblivious that it was his own daughters who just adopted a stage name to hide their female alter egos.

Merely judging a photo or hearing about PDA from Chanchal was completely irrational on DP's part thus becoming decisive about their marriage. Again, it is all in his mindset probably that this tradition/norm hasn't died out and he feels threatened when someone (like Vikram, Mini, Gunnu/Sattu, etc) says it is nothing of this sort. Either get the girl and guy caught red-handed married or drink the poison from his amulet. Metaphorically, the writers did a smart use of incorporating a wheel chair/making DP handicapped physically and how it lines with it psychologically. Physically, he was injured when he was over-excited about getting his daughters married in a well-settled family. Mentally, he remained stagnant on that perception despite remaining on that wheel-chair. Quite a smart culmination, I must say!

It can occur concurrently and letting his daughters pursue their ambitions hence why probably the three-month time frame, although it can be speculated safely that the duration will be elongated more than 3 months.

They would have been able to assist him by not swapping gender-prescribed roles and supplying meals to the hospital, we saw that he did like the food, just the moment he found out it was made by Garima, he got mad and started talking about how he is ineffective if they earn. Why so? Don't fathers hand over their responsibilities and assets to their sons? If there is dire need of money and they are helping out, why stop them and make them feel alienated from their own father? Betiyaan paraya dhan hoti hai - this logic should have died in the 90s. Please dont revive it in the post 2020-era.

Shishupal does not like being dependant on Dharmpal for everything though, we saw it during the track when Dharmpal got him different sets of UW and cited he saw the old ones hanging and they had holes in them. Embarrassing AF. He respects his Bhabhi a lot, a fact we have also seen multiple times when he patiently explained to her why they had gone to the hotel, or in the hospital when he informed her about the accident again while Chanchal was getting a little fidgety.

Yes, there is a certain level of power play that came in during the wedding where he wanted to show Chanchal that he is the man of the house, but there are times like the first episode or during the hospital track where we have seen him letting the girls get their way and being genuinely thankful when they handed him the 10,000/- that they had earned. He has also been persistent in telling them to attend college, asking them to agree to the PG's because it was the need of the hour and usually giving them very sound advice, though the detectivegiri is a lil too much. He is scared of Dharmpal, hence acts a certain way to impress him and not being asked to don a ghagra choli and other stuff which puts him down in front of his own family. Yes, Chanchal has always voiced for him to have his own say, because even though she taunts him for being a clerk, deep down she can see his sacrifices and wants him to do well too.

DP likes being comfortable with the old, rather than experimenting with the new, which is why I feel the business dipped a little bit and he was not able to pay the two-month EMIs on time. He takes his rivalry with Jagat seriously, especially after Jagat tried to play the prospective grooms tactic because he is aware how badly Jagat wants K&S and in some sense, if both were playing chess, he is willing to put everything on stake to win the game, no matter how many casualties his chess pieces (the girls, SP, Puttu, Fitkari etc.) have to bear during the game - even to the point of the marriage. The ones that challenge him, he does not bother to actually listen to or give a second thought, coz he believes he is always right. Again, the entire thing of being happy when the customers lined up, he is happy for Gunnu-Sattu, not technically his daughters. He is glad for these two boys who seemingly came out of nowhere and helped him set up his business again, he would not have the same outlook if it was girls - even if not his daughters. That is still stuck in his head and binds him to the wheelchair of limited thinking. Yes, the three-month time-frame must signify some change in his mindset or atleast a transition, let's wait and watch!

In my opinion , as he said Rohtak is a small town and people have small mindset . However in one of the episode I guess it was starting he said " khud ki Ladkiya hokar bhi parayi hoti hai " to one of the customer . So dp ne apni betiyon ko bahot pehle sacrifice kar diya hai !! He just can't bear them now he even said girls are bhoj until n unless they aren't married .

Instead of loving his daughters he is keeping them away from the parents love not as father but from their mom too. This is the reason susheela is now unable to trust any man because she has this fear of getting caged . That is why she wanted to run away ... Can you see the amount of frustration and disappointed she had. He made to choose them home science because yeh degree housewife ke liye hoti hai agar if they have opt something else he would have protest .

Shishupal is a coward and underconfident person . He needs to raise his voice and desire in future . Other than that , I wanted puttu to take a stand for himself as he is no longer a intrested to be his heir. Regarding the twin , they have to fight alot , they sacrifice their hair and everything for this shop . Nobody can imagine how girls are going through as they are literally living for this family who doesn't respect them nor support them.

Last but not the least I wanted both male leads to raise their voices against the discrimination and patriarchy towards their partner . Sasur vs damads ho jana chahiye

Rohtak may be a small town, but even small towns have now begun to move away from the 'paraya dhan' narrative, even if they dont exactly embrace equalism. Wanting to marry them off when he does not have adequate income to even pay off his EMIs, that just makes me question a lot of things going on undercurrent. The girls feeling trapped and frustrated is normal with the amount of restrictions on them, both in the normal and societal sense, and the inability of letting their mother also have a say in the decisions made for the benefit of THEIR daughters, not just his. Susheela vocalises it and tells him a spade is a spade, so he tries to clip her wings off, while Garima is able to atleast try to reason out, but both fail to make him see sense in their motives and logic. Home Science being a housewife ki degree- anytime I hear that in any serial, it makes me ROFL, coz my cousin teaches home science to graduates, her friends have their own catering businesses or the ones looking at child development have done their specialization in psychology and now are official consultants to expecting and young mothers, and they are all very financially-secure working women. Har cheez ka sahi istemaal, karta hai kamaal 👍🏼

DP will never see their sacrifices the right way for a long time, that's for sure! Even if SP and Puttu stand up for themselves, they will be silenced. One-by-one I guess all family members will start finding out the Gunnu/Sattu and Garima/Susheela double role, and they will help them to continue hiding it from DP coz otherwise it is shut shop. Even Shisupal will come through on this one, coz he knows his bhatijis are right and need to pay the EMIs for K&S to survive. Sasur versus damaad will be fun to witness, coz they will not stand for his old-school ideals and will definitely call him out on it on different instances. Let's wait and watch! 😳

I can actually attest to this because my maternal side actually hails from small towns in UP (the Meerut/Benaras side) even though she grew up in Mumbai. The small towns are quickly progressing towards the more digital side & more laxed mentality. I actually liked the phase where Garima put use of her knowledge she gained from home science courses into actual play such as rose water for after shave, the test that DP did before hiring the boys, etc. It says that this degree can utilized for other purposes, not just limited for housewives, so yes it is cringeworthy to overhear this phrase a lot whether ITV or real life. Depends on the financial constraints and other factors because like any other degree, people can incorporate it for job purposes or further pursue for their jobs like teaching or setting up some school for diplomas, etc just to name a few. Susheela does it the direct way whereas Garima does try to reason it out but to no avail. It's a bummer that even though Kusum tries her best to say something like they are her daughters as well yet DP remains decisive on his part.

LOL, for now it is safe to say that DP is ignoring their sacrifices and putting their own aspirations on side. I feel, that Chanchal would more supportive if Shishupal takes up a stand whether it comes to wife, son, nieces, etc. for the right cause. Chanchal was happy that Susheela found a supportive MIL and wished for a similar atmosphere in their house. She did ship Pramod and Susheela too. When DP was admitted to the house, he initially was skeptical of receiving their money because he feared of DP's reaction the moment he heard about it but at that time, he agreed that compromise was the only suitable choice.

Choka bhola ji, aapne! 👍🏼

The wheelchair is sorta a warning to him to get out of his orthodox mentality matlab choti lagna was like a warning to initiate permeability of the present phase one lives in. Matlab like ek hawa ka jhoka kaise rukh ko badal deta h hence the warning to allow acceptance of dreams whether it is for males or females. If SP wants to pursue cooking, Garima wants to pursue hairstyling, and similarly with Susheela & Puttu, for that DP needs to change his perception. No doubt, one should retain their roots & essence but that doesn't mean to stick around with norms that expired years ago.

Yes, it alludes to the power of resilience and acceptance of a change mindset. When the accident happened, and we went with cause-effect, DP should have allowed them to pursue what was best - Shishupal starting off with weekend catering with help from Kusum and Chanchal, Garima working at a ladies saloon (if he is so strict about K&S), Susheela earning some money with modelling and boxing assignments and Puttu enjoying his school days. The money and crisis would have been averted and managed, the girls would feel closer to their father because they were allowed to take their responsibilities and there was no question of Jagat Seth's tricks either coz he was oblivious to their presence till they came face-to-face in the shop and did not even consider them a threat worth noticing. Would have been a slap on his face when he realized the EMIs are paid and K&S is safe! 😆

But koi nai, the girls handling the saloon themselves is also a big sacrifice and undertaking of responsibilities on their part, hope they defeat JS and get their due, while DP starts getting more comfortable with change. The journey has begun - for the first time K&S hired multiple people as assistants, digital advertising/marketing, use of the modern technology to become more efficient, and most importantly, them as girls taking a step towards equality! 👍🏼
