@Shanam:

Same here, even I want to attempt to read 5 classics this year. I also want to listen to more audiobooks; it helps me cover more genres that I would otherwise not read.

I think all of us would love to have your addiction to reading. It’s probably the only addiction that’s good.

I was thinking of having a reading marathon in January. Read 3 out of 5 books (books within 350 pages) in a week’s time. Let me know if you’ll are likely to be free and would be on board for something like this.
If not, we will do our regular one BOTM.

@unique.sheep I think reading goals helps plan your year. This year I had planned to read less books and devote other aspects of my life. But corona didn't like my plans sadly. 🤔 I hope to achieve the goal in the coming year.

@ Anam yes, it feels amazing when you find people with similar reading tastes.

And sorry I won't be available for the reading marathon. The idea sounds so much fun though. 😭

It’s a pity you didn’t like the book but it’s good to have a different take on the book since Shreya & I liked it.

I think you & Shreya have similar tastes when it comes to Fantasy whereas Shreya & I have similar tastes when it comes to Contemporary. Shanam & Unique.Sheep have similar tastes when it comes to romance novels. It’s good that all of us to an extent have partners who have more or less similar tastes in certain genres.

Shanam reads more books than me so ill be going to her for recommendations now😆

@Diya: Okay so I am not entirely sure but if you want the AIs to have more character, you should check out The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells. Most of the sci-fi readers gush about Murderbot more than the plot itself.

Half of my reading is through audiobooks. It really makes it easier for me especially when I am busy or I have to get through a dense section of fantasy books. Like Shanam said, you just have to find the ones with good narration!

@Anam: I now know who to go for recommendations for contemporary books! 😆 I would really like to try some contemporary. I am always reading fantasy which I would like to change. A bit. My reading really needs to diversify in terms of genre. 🤔

I have no reading resolutions as such. Like I said above, maybe reach out to new genres and read couple of memoirs.

I also want to read more classics. I am reading Emma right now.

@Unique Sheep: I love to set goals for everything so I guess, I like reading goals of how many books to read in a year too. This is a stupid answer.

Anam has worded it correctly. It makes me want to read.

I don't think I would be free enough to binge read. Maybe summer time?

Tbh I only see benefit in reading classics or non fiction. The rest of the genres are just for enjoyment

It won’t be anything iron clad, like I have to read it but I do have a few plans in mind.

1. To read more classics. I read 3 of them this year and I want to push myself to read at least 5 next year.

2. To read different genres especially Fantasy.
3. To read at least 2 chunkers.

4. Read a book by Toni Morrison and a book by James Baldwin.
5. Read more books based on different cultures rather than just books set in the States or UK.

In my experience, iron-clad resolutions never stick, so this is for the best, I think. 😆

1. Hey, it looks like we all want to read some classics this year. Can we include that in one of our BOTMs? Group reading and discussions might make it more enjoyable.

3. This reminds me, did you finish Anna Karenina? I wanted to start War and Peace, but the size of the book is just scary.

5. Yes, me too! But I find it difficult to do that. First, you have to find a good book, then a good translation, and then you have to actually find a physical/ebook version of it. Books based in the US/UK are so easy to find. Anyway, do you have any particular authors in mind? I want to try out Russian authors (mom's recommendation).
