Why wasn’t Sunil Shetty able to leverage success of Hera Pheri?

Akshay’s career got revamped after Hera Pheri. Sunil had equally important role . Why did AK’s career go on rise and Sunil was left behind ?

Aankhen was superhit movie and Govinda’a career got a boost. Chunky Pandey had equal role in movie and he didn’t get benefit .

When Hera Pheri came, Sunil's career as a leading man was almost over. I don't think he even tried to regain that lost space. On the contrary, Akshay evolved with time and ultimately his choices elevated him from his earlier ranks.

Akshay's career took a significant turn in 2007 when four of his releases went on to become hits. It wasn't immediately after Hera Pheri.

Moreover, I think it's Paresh Rawal who benefitted the most from the comedy series.

Hera Pheri at box office barely broke even it's budget. It wasn't a big box office success. The film got a cult status years after it's release.

Nobody went ahead in career because of this film.

But yes, nowadays mainstream actors avoid doing multi-starrers because it becomes very easy for critics to compare them, point out their flaws and tell who is better.
