Chapter 8

Brigadier Singh was aware of what had happened when Suman escaped, he claimed she had briefed him about how she used Shravan and had asked Brigadier Singh to keep this a secret. The plan was to use this information against Shravan, as he had not disclosed all the information to the army and had accepted a mission against Suman. Now the army would have to be doubtful about Shravan’s intent of taking up the mission and the fact that Suman and her gang had escaped from his team every time would be like adding fuel to the fire.

Two days later, a few people from the army came and took Shravan for questioning, he managed to make the situation worse for himself by giving contradicting answers to the army’s questions. He was retained in custody for further investigation but he managed to go rogue with Brigadier Singh’s assistance. He knew that those people would not be waiting for him to join them, nor would they trust him so easily even though he had reasons to go against the army. All this looked too easy to him, no one in their right mind would take him in their gang so easily, hence Brigadier Singh and him had devised a plan to rescue Hameez and offer him as a present to Zoravar and Hafiz. He had figured out Hameez was an important asset for them and they would do anything to get to him. Thus, he managed to rescue Hameez and had kept that guy under sedatives. He then travelled to Kashmir and had been wandering and hiding in the woods as the army was on high alert. Before he was taken for questioning, he had received an intel that someone prominent, probably Hafiz, was going to be here.

After one week of hiding, he managed to get a meeting with Hafiz for tonight. He was all prepared as he walked deeper into the woods, but he had been wondering if she was going to be there as well and how must he interact with her, what will he say to her, he didn’t know but he had been pondering over these things. As he reached the specified location, he saw two guys waiting for him, they tied his hands and covered his eyes with a black cloth, he had expected this. They put him in a van and after almost 2 hours of driving they reached a small house. He was taken inside with his hands still tied and eyes still covered, but he figured she was there, he could feel it and that excitement and nervousness of seeing her had left butterflies in his stomach.

“Ab toh yeh sab khol do” he said almost pleading, the key of working with these people was never act too smart with them, the weaker and stupider you look the safer your identity and life would be. Hafiz signalled his men to remove the cloth only, he never trusted these army people. “Bolo humse kyu milna chahte the” Hafiz questioned with authority.

Shravan was disappointed as Suman was not there but how could he be wrong about her. It was an extremely small room with only one small table in the name of furniture, there were some random sacks kept around, as he looked around, he saw another small room behind Hafiz it was pitch dark in there compared to their room which had a small yellow bulb.

“Sauda karna tha tum se, kaam karna chahta hu tum logo ke saath” “Aur humne yaha pe company khol rakhi haina, ki koi bhi aayega aur humare saath kaam karne lagega” Hafiz said trying to crack a joke, on which only his people laughed, out of compulsion that too.

“Tumhara bhai mere paas hai” at this Hafiz stopped laughing. “Tumhare paas kaise ho sakta hai woh” he asked angrily.

“Hafiz mujhe pata hai ki tumhe mere bare me sab pata hi hoga, tum mujhe yaha bina investigation kiye nahi bulaoge, toh meri bas yahi request hai ki mujhe apne saath shamil hone ka ek muka do mai tumhe nirash nahi karunga, mere paas itni information hai ki sari umar nikal jayegi usko batane me” Shravan as usual over promised.

“Haan haan sab pata hai, yeh saari information uss ladki ke paas bhi hai toh hum tumhe kyu humare saath shamil kare” Hafiz questioned. “Kyuki jaisa maine kaha mere paas Hameez hai”

“Isse wapas wahi chod do” Hafiz angrily instructed his men. “Hameez ka kya karu yeh toh bata do agar tumko nahi chahiye woh toh, uska khana pena bahut mehenga paad raha hai mereko” Shravan said laughing.

Hafiz was about to punch Shravan when he heard a familiar voice from the other room. “Hafiz bhai sambhal ke usske paas Hameez hai, humare logo ne confirm kiya hai” but that did not stop him from landing a punch on Shravan’s face, he was bleeding but still a smile crept on his as soon as he heard her voice.

“Hafiz bhai yeh kya kar rahe hai aap” Suman shouted angrily, “Hume aap se baat karni hai zara bhiter aaye” she said staring at Shravan. He looked different than she remembered, he had lost weight but at the same time he looked muscular.

On the other hand, Shravan was trying to grasp what he just saw, Suman, she looked so different she had changed. She was wearing a long beige kurta with a sleeveless black vest and black leggings, she had lost weight, her face had no glow, only dark circles and a few marks that somewhat looked recent.

In the room as Hafiz and Suman walked inside, “Yeh aap kya kar rahe hai, yahi toh hum chahte the nah, yahi plan tha, aapne Zoravar bhai se request ki thi isliye hum aapko saath laye, aap apne bhai ko wapas lana chahte hai bhi ya sirf humare plans me adchan dalne ka maksad rah gaya hai aapka” she said angrily

“Kya matlab hai tumhara hume...” Suman cut him before he could complete his justification “Hume pata hai us din waha humara Hameez ko nikalne ka plan kyu fail hua tha, army ko apne iktala kiya tha humare paas subut hai bas Zoravar bhai ko batane ki der hai” “Humne army ko kuch nahi bataya thik haina tum kuch bhi mat bolo” Hafiz said with all the confidence he could gather, after all his secret was out in front of her.

“Plan ke hisab se chalte hai usme hi apki bhalai hai, aur Shravan se shambhal ke rahi ye warna aapki bewakoofiyo ki wajah se usko sari sachiyi pata chal jayegi, bewakoof nahi hai woh, army officer hai”

“Thik hai thik hai, kya karna hai bolo” Hafiz said irritated while Suman smiled slyly as everything was happening as per her plan.

Flashback (when Suman was instructed to kill Shravan and she had a discussion with Zoravar):

“Bacha hum jante hai ki tumne army ko inform nahi kiya tha, par kya kare hume sab me vishwas banaye rakhna bhi zaroori hai”

“Ji bhaijaan hum samjhte hai, par hume lagta hai ki Shravan ko maar ke humara koi fayada nahi hoga, hume lagta hai ki usse istamal kiya ja sakta hai humare maksad ke liye”

“Woh toh thik hai par woh ladka humare kis kaam ka aur woh apne desh se mohabbat karta hai toh humare liye kyu kaam karega”

“Woh hume Hameez lake dega jise hum pichle ek saal se usse wapas lane ki nakamyab kosish kar rahe hai, aur Shravan sirf apne desh se nahi humse bhi mohabbat karta hai bachpan se, aur humpe bahut vishwas bhi karta hai kuch bhi karega humare liye”

“Par hum usse kaise laye yaha humare saath”

“Uska plan mere paas hai, aap bas army me joh humara banda sabse uchi post pe hai usse contact ki jiye aur usse khayiye ki Shravan ko kahe ki hum bhi army ke ek mission pe hai yaha aur ab hume unki zaroorat hai warna humari identity bahar aa jayegi, uske baad hum tak pahuchne ka plan woh khud banayega”

“Bahut umda Suman, hume tumse yahi ummed thi, hum baat karte hai”

Suman and Hafiz stepped out of the room after their conversation. Shravan could see that Hafiz looked irritated and unhappy while Suman was as usual expressionless. “Isse wahi chod aayo wapas” she told her men, “aur tum wait karo hum tumhe contact karenge time aane par”

“Par mai toh almost do hafte se wait kar raha hu yaar, aur kitna wait karwaogi tum, bolo toh mai abhi Hameez ko yaha la sakta hu”

“Zayda uchalne ki zaroort nahi hai, thoda sabar karo, sahi waqt aane par hum contact karenge tumhe” Suman said calmly and signalled her men to take him away.

nice chapter, so suman is growing concerned for shravan hence she mitigated the plan in such a way to keep shravan away from her plans..looks like hafiz doesnt fully trust suman for some reason...dunno what shravan plans to do though after knowing sumo;s plan...

Chapter 9

2 weeks later Shravan was contacted by Hafiz and he was given instructions on how to smuggle Hameez and himself to the other side.

At the camp, Suman was waiting for Shravan to arrive into the camp and as he did, he first walked up to her and hugged her tightly “Sumaaaaaan, kaisi ho”. “Yeh kya kar rahe ho Shravan pagal ho gaye ho kya sab dekh rahe hai”

“Haan pagal toh tumne kar diya hai mujhe ab toh samajh nahi aata tum kiske liye kaam karti ho aur kya kar rahi ho” Shravan spoke into her ears softly.

Hafiz and Zoravar welcomed Shravan and Hameez. Shravan was briefed on how they function and what they do. Shravan was going to work under Hafiz. At night while walking up to his room, he saw Suman and held her wrist, pulling her inside a store room nearby.

“Yeh kya kar rahe ho tum, humara haath chodo”, she whispered angrily. “Yeh tum kya hum hum hum karti rehti ho, hum kaun, tum aur tumhari yeh fauj” Shravan said rolling his eyes, at her changed mannerisms which had started irritating him now, “At least yaha toh yeh acting chod do apni, tumhari audience nahi hai yaha”

“Kuch kaam tha ya yeh bakwas sunane ke liye yaha laye ho, waise bhi hume aise saath dekh ke sab ko shak ho jayega, aur yeh risk nahi le sakte abhi”

He was upset at her indifference towards him. “Mere paas bhi time nahi hai tumse bakwas karne ke liye, mujhe janana hai ki yeh mission hai kya exactly aur tum yaha ek saal se kya kar rahi ho” “Mission bas itna hai ki iss pure group ki information hume army ko pass on karni hai, inke har mission aur plan ki ek ek detail, par phele mujhe yeh batao ki tumhe yaha aane ke orders kisne diye the”

“Kya matlab kisne diye, tumhe bhi toh wahi se orders aate honge nah” he said suspiciously “Haan par zaroori hai ki humare bich koi bhi confusion nah ho aur hum same CO ko report kar rahe ho, bas isiliye puch rahi thi, kisi bhi galti ki gunjaish nahi honi chahiye, ab bataoge agar interrogation puri ho gayi ho toh” she said irritated.

“Brigadier Si…” before he could complete, they heard someone approaching the store room. “Oye idhar chalo aise nahi dikh sakte hum siyapa ho jayega” Suman pulled him behind some boxes. As they managed to hide someone walked into the room. “Bhaijaan yeh ladki kaun hai aur kya kar rahi hai humare saath, dekhne me toh Hindustani lagti hai” “Haan Hameez kya batau tumhe isne toh jaise Zoravar bhai pe jadu sa kar rakha hai bas issi ki sunte hai aajkal, uss ladke ko toh marne ka order tak nikalva diya tha par uss ladki ne sab badal diya”

Shravan and Suman were listening to their conversation and Shravan melted like an ice cream as he figured out what Suman had done possibly to save his life he believed. Suman was completely focused on the conversation of the two brothers while Shravan kept eyeing her. As the two brothers left, they locked the room from outside. “Shravaaan hum lock ho chuke hai, agar kisi ne dekh liya toh duno ki shamat aayegi” Suman kept on murmuring while walking from one end to another. Shravan irritated with her constant murmuring and walking “Suman ruko itne dino tak koi exercise nahi ki kya jo sari aaj hi kar logi” “Tum yaha mission par aaye bhi ho ya sirf timepass karne ka irada rakhte ho” “Arrey chill karo jab koi aayega toh hum nikal jayenge” he said sitting down on the floor.

“Tumne apna sara dimag iss ek saal me hume pakadne ke liye kharach kar diya nah Shravan thoda bacha lete toh acha hota tumhare liye ab sari zindagi bina dimag ke kaise katoge” “Sumo tum ho nah woh sab ke liye” he said very instinctively. But as realization dawned upon him, he got extremely uncomfortable to which Suman’s typical “Sumo look” was not helping. “Shravan, agar kisine, kisine bhi hume yaha ek saath dekh liya galti se bhi toh sab barbad ho jayega, waise bhi tumne suna nahi who Hafiz aur Hameez dono yehi chahte hai ki hume Indian army ke agents sabit karke yahi pe execute karva de, aur agar hum itni der tak kisi ko nahi dikhe toh sab notice karenge Shravan, please baat ko samjho”

“Dekho Suman abhi waise bhi raat ho chuki hai sab sone ja chuke honge, kal subha subha who cook ya jo bhi hai who aayega saman lene tab hum chup chap yaha se nikal jayenge ok, tab tak bas hope karte hai ki koi hume galti se bhi nah dunde” “Hmm… I guess we have to wait” saying this she went and joined Shravan to sit on the floor.

After a long comforting silence Suman finally spoke “Waise tum mujhe bata rahe the ki tumhe yaha aane ke orders kisne diye” “Who mujhe Delhi ke army headquarter se call aaya tha Brigadier Singh ka toh unhone hi sab bataya tha mission ke bare me par jayda baat nahi ho payi thi, he said you’ll brief me about it, waise unhone mention kiya tha ki tumhe meri zaroorat hai to keep your cover, yeh full mission aur uski story hai kya Suman”

“Yeh Brigadier Singh ka full name kya hai Shravan” “Mai kya puch raha hu aur tum kis tangent pe atki hui ho yaar Suman, tum bhi toh unhe hi report karti ho nah tumhe kya itna bhi nahi malum” “Malum hai par make sure karna chahti hu ki tum Captain Shravan Malhotra hi ho koi humshakal nahi” a smile crept up on Shravan’s face at her innovative and filmy thinking. “Shravan kuch puch rahi hu bologe bhi ya fevicol kha liya hai” he smilingly nodded his head at this.

“Brigadier Surya Pratap Singh, khush ya unki puri family history bhi chahiye tumhe” “Hmm, thik hai tum hi ho” “Waise Suman tumhe yaha roz khane me sarcasm ka koi spcieal doze milta hai kya” Suman rolled her eye at this, “Bakwaas karwa lo tumse bas, acha Shravan tumse ek baat kheni thi, mai janti hu ki maine aisa koi kaam nahi kiya pichle ek saal me jiski wajah se tum mujhpe aankh band karke bharosa kar sako, par aane wale dino me chize bahut complicate ho jayengi par kuch bhi jaye koi tumse kuch bhi kahe please Shravan mujhe pe bharosa karna aur mujhe inform kiye bina kuch mat karna, maine inn logo ke saath ek saal bitaya hai toh no one can know them better than me”

“Suman mai tumpe pura bharosa karta hu as an officer hi nahi par otherwise bhi, mai janta hu maine bahut galtiya ki hai par ab koi galti nahi karna chahta, tumhara bharosa nahi thodna chahta hu. Maine kuch saalo phele jo kiya tumhe majbor karne ke liye ki tum case wapas lelo mujhe nahi karna chahiye tha Suman, maine tumhare saath hi nahi balki Vijay uncle ke saath bhi bahut galat kiya, woh toh mujhpe bharosa karte the aur maine.., I’m sorry Suman” Shravan spoke his heart out with tears welling up in his eyes.

“Shravan tumhe jo kiya tha who galti nahi gunha tha, aur mafi galtiyo ki mangi jati hai gunhao ki saza hoti hai” she spoke with pure anger. “Toh kya mujhe goli marna uss saza ka hissa tha ya iss mission ka” Shravan awaited her answer, genuinely wanting to know. “Tumhe kya lagta hai?” “Usse kya fark padega, chodo waise maine aur bhi kuch pucha tha jiska jawab mujhe abhi tak nahi mila” Shravan said referring to his previous questions about the mission.

“Hmm batati hu” she said standing up. Suman went on to brief Shravan about the mission, and how she was given orders to eliminate him and prove her loyalty but she managed to twist the situation around by asking Brigadier Singh for help and ensuring Shravan goes rouge so she can ask these people to let him join them and help them in their big mission.

“Inka mission hai kya aur yeh karna kya chahte hai” Shravan asked after listening to the whole story. “Mujhe bhi zayda information nahi hai filhaal bas itna pata hai ki do mahine baad yeh log kuch bada karna chahte hai India me jiske liye inhe Hameez ki zaroorat hai, anyways subha hone wali hai Kareem aata hi hoga, hume bahut dhayan se nikal ke chup chap apne rooms me jana hoga ok, please koi gadbad mat karna”

Both of them silently vanished into their rooms before anyone could notice.
