bold:But Devraj has to be exonerated or it'll count against Shravan right? He'll still have to try hard to prove himself. Or does army judge impartially on individual merit? But they can't afford to have moles amongst them and questionable family background places one under severe scrutiny in such defense/intelligence sectors. Or I'm missing something or the writers are taking creative liberties-which would also explain their ranks.

It would be slightly discriminatory to consider the family reputation as a reason for not hiring him for the job. I get that background checks are important but if the guy is showing dedication for the job, then why can't he be hired or given one chance just because his father was labeled as traitor? Maybe there are some legalities that he might have to clear up if required but if the applicant is dedicated or showing potential through the Interview/test rounds despite the past history, I don't mind giving him a chance? Sure, shravan will be impacted by Devraj's problems but it is Devraj who was blamed when Shravan's got nothing to do with this. Shravan's purpose is to clear the air against devraj & that is his "goal" for which he is seeing entering the army as the gate to his success to complete his goal.

I agree with you on principle. I was wondering how the army and such sectors viewed this. It should certainly be a roadblock (just to an extent, not something that cannot be overcome ofcourse), which is unfair because traitors can come from clean backgrounds too. And moles are especially recruited by terrorist organisations based on having unsuspecting backgrounds. It's just that some things are judged more severely in society. Like an unrelated but parallel example would be the scrutiny adoptive parents come under for adopting a child versus biological parents who needn't necessarily be great parents.

So, if Shravan overcame all of that and proved that he could be trusted, that's wonderful but I still hope they show some FBs of him being viewed with suspicion and of him proving himself an asset.

Yeah, it's just a truth and this will impact Shravan but if he's able to prove his merit, then I don't think it should be a problem. There are job sectors that tend to either discriminate/not hire based on background checks vs those that will suspect that that whether person has a clean background history which is usually illegal but shit happens. I think Shravan will rather take this experience as a stride as his purpose to enter the army. Just like the Tiwaris (with the wrong mindset of army vs civilians), there is discrimination but definitely I don't think army people will stretch this discrimination so badly as they want their applicants to be aspiring officers; maybe if they suspect foul play somewhere overtime they can kick em out or something (I know some people are good at masking this method😆). BB earned the brigadier rank yet he had an orthodox kind of thinking.

He would've been on probation(maybe even unofficially, like you know-noted down) for a while, till he proved his worth.

Yeah, just like any job, he's gonna have to work hard to prove that he is loyal to his country. The words of Devraj being a traitor, that he didn't expect from the one he loved with his heart the most (Suman), will already by catalyzing this factor or fueling his energy to work hard to prove that someone from a suspicious family background or something are able to work hard for their country.
