All Indian parents care about education honestly and for girls its marriage. My dad never takes me to a doctor if I fall sick. If I insist on going to a doctor they will say that I am throwing tantrum.

I have seen a similar case where parents refuse to take their kids to any doctor or get them anything which made them happy. In old age the same parents wonder why none of their kids ever visit them.

Stand on your feet and get a job. Leave your family.

I am sorry to say your family does not cares enough for you. Your parents should care for your health. This should be normal.

Take care of your own health first. Do not sacrifice your health and happiness for some else.

Most desi parents have no clue about what good parenting is. All they care is that their kids get a STEM degree and get married. I've heard of so many cases where the woman is being abused and mistreated in her marriage and the parents don't give a AF. In fact, they make it worse by guilt-tripping her that she can't be a burden on them in old age and has to stay in her marriage. As long as things look good from the outside and they look respectable in society, that's all they care about.
