The prominent actors and filmmakers from South cinema are focusing on Pan India projects and to have a Bollywood appeal, they cast famous Hindi actresses to get extra mileage across the Northern territories.

Last year, we saw Shraddha Kapoor playing the female lead in Prabhas’ Saaho and Alia Bhatt is going to feature in SS Rajamouli’s next directorial RRR. In a similar way, Deepika Padukone has been roped in to star with Prabhas in one of his forthcoming ‘yet-untitled’ film to be directed by Nag Ashwin.

But the recent developments in Bollywood corridors are giving sleepless nights to the makers of these biggies. After the Sushant Singh Rajput death leaded to nepotism controversy and became a national issue, Alia Bhatt faced huge negativity and the trailer of her recent film Sadak 2 garnered the weird record of being most disliked trailer ever in the world.

Alia Bhatt was roped in to play the female lead opposite Ram Charan in RRR and she is expected to join the shoot from next month. But after such huge outrage, Alia has become a burden rather than asset to the project and it might hamper RRR big time.

Following the arrest of Sushant Singh Rajput’s ex-girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty by NCB, even drug peddling case is taking shocking turns in Bollywood as many dark secrets are now coming into light.

Deepika Padukone’s name is alleged to be there in the viral drug chat issue and many media channels have reported that WhatsApp chats of her manager Karishma revealed that Deepika asking her whether she does have any “maal” (drugs). Reportedly, Karishma has been summoned by NCB and Deepika might also be questioned for the same.

Users on social media are running boycott campaigns against Deepika Padukoke and her eight months old issue of going to JNU has also come into spotlight once again. The raging controversy over Deepika is giving headache to the producer Ashwini Dutt who has roped her in Prabhas’ film by paying a mammoth fees of Rs 20+ Crore.

I’m convinced even if what is happening now in Bollywood were to happen in South (and if the allegations are true), the hero worship still won’t stop. The amount of hardcore (and quite literally diehard) fans is on a whole new level.

Are they still galawati kebab for Bollywood? I have my doubts.

The south industries are surely just as bad. Already the Kanada industry drug links are unravelling. There was a rave party of the Telugu industry a year or so ago which they managed to hush up.

Malayalam industry is also under the lens following the gold smuggling case. Not sure about the Tamil film industry. So I really don’t know where these druggie film folk would escape to?!

As an immediate aftermath though, I’m sure these actors, esp DP (if the charges against her stick) will be dropped like hot potatoes!
