I am pretty sure the eldest daughter (her name is Piyu I think?) had a crush on Tarun but he chose the educated and sophisticated Rati, instead of her because she is less educated (broken English).

Which is also why she didn't attend the wedding.

She will be one of the people who will crib about Preeti's presence, even though Kusum will eventually support Preeti.
