Aishwarya forgets where she came from

Bollywood's high-flyer Aishwarya Rai has forgotten the people who helped her through her struggling days.

When old friend Shweta Menon approached her to say hi, Ash completely ignored her and went the other way. This happened at a party hosted for Sikander Kher's debut film Summer Of 2007. Shweta and Ash shared the same room for over a month during a Miss India event in the 1990s.

An eye witness says, "Shweta Menon was eagerly waiting for Aishwarya and the moment she came, she went ahead and hugged her. Aishwarya however, did not return the gesture and after a perfunctory, cold 'hi', proceeded to ignore her completely. It was quite evident that Shweta was extremely upset. Shweta was extremely fond of Aishwarya as they have been good friends since the time they were contesting for the Miss India pageant. They even shared the same room in a five-star hotel in Goa for nearly a month during the rehearsals. They had kept in touch after that as well. Hence Shweta was looking forward to meeting her after a long gap and was shocked when cold-shouldered by her."

Shweta is a struggling actress while Ash has found fame and money and this could be the reason as to why Ash refused to chit-chat with her. What would your thoughts on this be… should this be the way when you become famous… or should you still keep in contact with those left behind?

Shweta Menon is originally from Calicut, and finished 3rd behind Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai in the Miss India contest. She is a Taurus, born on April 23. She has acted in several Hindi and a few Malayalam films with less than moderate success. She has acted in a Hindi film "ISHQ". She has also appeared in Kamasutra condom ads wearing two piece bikini. She studied in Kendriya Vidyalaya Calicut No.1. Her dad was in Indian Air Force.

Aishwarya Rai's Miss India roommate Shwetha Menon rushed up to hug Ash at a recent party, expecting a warm greeting in return. Instead, she got the cold-shoulder

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan seems to be exhibiting instances of temporary memory loss, if her recent meeting with old friend Shweta Menon is anything to go by. Shwetha who was in Mumbai after a long gap was quite excited about meeting her former roommate Aishwarya at a recent party but was shocked when she was completely cold-shouldered by the top actress.

Actress Shwetha Menon who was busy with her films in the south, returned to Mumbai to attend a party hosted for Sikander Kher's debut film Summer of 2007. Naturally, she was delighted to see her roommate from her Miss India days at the same event and went up to greet her joyously. However, her warm gesture was not acknowledged by Aishwarya, who completely ignored her and went around socialising with everyone else instead.

Disappointed at the cold reception from Ash with whom she had shared the same room for almost a month, Shwetha left the main hall quickly.

An eye witness says, "Shwetha Menon was eagerly waiting for Aishwarya and the moment she came, she went ahead and hugged her. Aishwarya however, did not return the gesture and after a perfunctory, cold 'hi', proceeded to ignore her completely."

Menon was completely taken aback at Aishwarya's behaviour. So she did not say bye to Ash when she left. Adds the source, "It was quite evident that Shwetha was extremely upset."

A close friend of Menon says, "Shwetha was extremely fond of Aishwarya as they have been good friends since the time they were contesting for the Miss India pageant. They even shared the same room in a five-star hotel in Goa for nearly a month during the rehearsals. They had kept in touch after that as well. Hence Shwetha was looking forward to meeting her after a long gap and was shocked when cold-shouldered by her."

Adds the friend, "Shwetha was very upset but I suppose she understands that Aishwarya is now a big star and stardom changes people."

When we contacted Shwetha Menon, she said, "I don't want to talk about the incident. It's over and done with."
