SUshant in his mind was sure Raabta was a hit. Infact it was his dream to work with Dinesh. In one of his first interviews after his debut he mentioned wanting to work with Dinesh. He had worked a lot for the movie and throughout the year he continued promoting it. One movie where I thought he gave in to the pressures of Bollywood where the promotions says more than you work. He was happy yes.. because he saw the greatest success in his lifetime and he was enjoying the attention he was getting for Raabta.Also had signed up movies with Homi and Irffan which eventually got shelved. (Takadum had gotten shelved in 2016 way before Raabta promotions had begun) Drive was also signed then which again eventually tirned out to be the biggest disaster of his filmy career followed by Raabta. He was very excited about landing up these films.. I did also see and arrogant streak in him which I never came across throughout his career..He suddenly started getting so angry and so self pompous. Raabta turned out to be of Dinesh's worst movies. For someone who has seen all his movies in theaters, I found Raabta's trailer so underwhelming that I did not even go on to finish the trailer. It was this failure that changed him and also his filmy friends. (Which filmy friends ? )
I remember just after the failure of Raabta Kriti's Bareily Ki Barfi came out and was a huge success.. I saw a change in Kriti from them .

WHen the first poster of Luka Chipi came out Sushant also wished the duo a lot of luck and was royally ignored by both Kriti and Kartik. I felt bad for him. ( That was not poster. That was in 2019 when the film was releasing clashing with Sonchiriya. And they had broken up many months before that. Although in Dec 2018 when she had gone to KWK she ranked him the most talented and also chose her chemistry with Sushant the best over her and Kartik's. She really had no need to do this. Raabta was a flop film at the end of the day. She could have easily ranked him lower on talent . But she dint. She just went by what she organically felt. The break up dint cloud her answers. She could have easily used KWK to take digs at him like many ex's have done in the past on the show )
And from here on I saw him getting too much invested in physics (also because Chanda Mama was in line), science, guitar and his proteam. (He was prepping for Chandamama in 2017. He had gone for a workshop in the US in 2017 . There was no proteam then. The film got shelved eventually by Oct 2017. And he got busy with the rest of Kedarnath shoot and Sonchiriya)
He would travel..interact with friends read books quote them and just that. But yes he had begun to lose a part of him. ( He had cultivated the reading habit wayy before that. I agree in early PVR days he had said he doesnt read but later he started to. Even when he had entered the film world and was with Ankita he had started reading avidly. Kriti said even to Budapest he had carried Maths,Physics books. In early 2018 Saif i remember said in an iv that Sara had told him that Sushant reads a lot. So reading habit was nothing suddenly in 2018. Also he has always been a Traveller. He used to go to Goa with Ankita and his friends so many times. There are hill station pics of him and Ankita too. He holidayed with Kriti to Sri Lanka. With Kriti and friends to London, USA, Switzerland. With family Andamans. Solo trip to Ladakh, Dubai. Ladakh with Rhea and Pithani and others. Euro holiday with Rhea. Bangkok with his pro team. He has always liked Travelling. )
Him being a skirt chaser and someone who loves to have one nights with ladies with songs of his serial in the background...all this blinds had already started in the beginning of 2018.. ( The blinds began in 2016 significantly and were in full force post Dhoni. Not suddenly in 2018. In fact the skirt chaser blind by Masand was in 2017. )
That was when I leaped back to him. I had started feeling that he is being treated really bad now.
The me too allegations were the final nail in the coffin for him. And just after that or during that time there were articles on how Kriti and he broke up because Kriti is a one man woman and Sushant has roving eyes. That's when I really felt they never had a relationship that was too close emotionally. You dont do this to someone you love when he is such a mess. You do it someone who was close to you but not bigger than your career. ( Sushant broke up with Kriti before the metoo thing broke out. And she dint break up. He did. Kriti infact got her make up guy to defend him publicly. )
During Kedarnath promotions he felt so lost, so troubled..wanting to explain so much and could not explain a bit. Sara anyway was highlighted throughout. And since the mee too allegations were going on even the makers and director felt it deemed that Sara gets talked about more. And when you see that movie, its Sushant that you take back with you. (I agree he looked damn tired during Kedarnath promotions)
After Dil Bechara shooting was done.. I suppose his depression was diagnosed.
I have seen Sushant being a very jovial boy.. jumping around. I have seen him being very matured with his answers. I have seen him talking about a lot of other stuffs apart from books/stars/physics. I have seen him being shy/introvert and laconic but very comfortable about himself, very confident and very articulate.
In the last few years he most of his qualities and appeared so conscious about his presence, about what he is talking about , wanting to speak so much and failing to convert them into words. In fact his last few appearances even in the award shows looked so hollow. He looked completely disoriented. A person might think he is high on something, because of how his face looked like.
About the aforementioned information, I have always had that instincts that he was getting emotionally detached in the last few years especially from mid 2018. He was compassionate about his work, he was philanthropic , he was still very attached to his fans , but he was definitely going low on emotional attachments with loved ones. He gave those vibes. However when he died, I assumed I am being very wrong about him, but getting across this one I realized after all I was right. From the man who once said , I can make friends easily when I talk to them..the man who said when I am low I talk to my girlfriend ..she is my strength..he became a man who said I dont have friends, I dont have anyone to talk to .. He became a man about who , the very people who he was close to in his last days, say that he did not share anything with me. He would never share anything. Probably he had convinced himself that the other person wont understand him at all. ( He has always been a private and introverted person. Even when he was with Ankita reporters used to say how reserved and reclusive he is. Not surprising even Mahesh said so in his last post. He ofcourse hung out with a lot of TV people thanks to Ankita i feel. Similarly the years he was with Kriti, he was the most social. Again I feel like Ankita Kriti was more social than him and made it happen.)

Edited out the rest part coz they are subjective opinion and i cant counter that. I was not surprised with Sushant-Ankita break up. The Niranjan Iyengar answer of his re Ankita and marriage is going viral. Interestingly that is the iv I felt his answer was so weird like he is ghumaoing the question. In early 2016 Sush Ankita had gone to an event- she was wearing red, I think it was Filmfare. I found both of them so bothered, tired eyes . Borderline irritated with the marriage question. Fake body language by both to show PDA. It was so off. So when the break up news came up. I was not really shocked.
BTW did you not see Ankita retweet anti Sushant tweets when Manikarnika was about to release??
Anyways I was just always his fan. Saw things through him. Kriti I found super compatible with him. It was a joy to see him blush like a teenager during Raabta ivs in her company.
I think both loved him a lot. I feel both are heartbroken. Both relationships were broken by him not the girls.What were the whys? Only he would know.
