So, I watched this movie and it was like a breath of fresh air. So much organic content, rooted in a compelling narrative, painted in fresh, vibrant colours and seeped in nostalgia for an era that is lost forever -- the era of romanticism. This dignified film moves with a leisurely, melancholic pace of its own. Not everything here is perfect: the overall premise of the story is, at first, a little difficult to buy into, and the director does tend to gloss his film over with overtly subtle strokes. But these are minor flaws in a beautifully composed, lyrical film that undeniably has its heart in the right place.
Sanya Malhotra is effortless and charming, and she’s simply superb as Miloni making you ache for her all through. But the scene-stealer is Nawaz. He is so convincing in his character you will forget he is acting. The chemistry between these two is raw, strange, and mapped with a painstaking fervour which is hard to describe in words.
The inner conflict of the characters is portrayed beautifully with just the right mixture of commercial and offbeat elements. Again, this movie is not everyone's cup of tea as the pace is very slow and diluted by an over-indulgent filmmaker. But the best part about the film is that it doesn't purport to have all the answers. It lets you into its landscape with warmth and sincerity, and sets you free to derive your own answers.
