How does it feel to be back playing Suhana in the serial Bhabhi?

I am elated that I have returned to the serial as Suhana and I owe my comeback to my viewers. Their overwhelming response took me by surprise as well and it felt glad to know that all my hard work and dedication had been recognised.

But what about the chances of being compared to Kanchi Kaul, who was playing Suhana's role all this while?

I am not here to get compared with anyone. I play a certain character with full conviction and leave the rest to my audience. Somewhere down the line, I know that they wanted me back and here I am. Now I'm just looking at how I can take things from here. Looking back at the past is not what I'd really indulge in at this point of time.

You started your career in television as Kali in Kkusum. When you look back at it now, how dies it feel to have begun with a negative character?

Kali is a character that's very close to my heart as I began my career with it. She was a teenager who was terribly spoilt and pampered but at the same time , was going through a lot of emotional upheavel due to her father being drawn more towards her step sister, Kumud. It was a tough character to essay but I think I could somewhat do justice to it. Not for once did it strike me that a negative character spoil chances of my future in television.

Why is that you just have one show on air currently?

Playing a lead means working almost 25 days a month and after this, it leaves me with no time to work for any other serial. I wish my month was of 45 days so that I could work on two serials at the same time. But on a serious note, I am here to work and am open to working in television and films.

You started off with a Balaji serial, why haven't you worked in any other serial from the camp?

It has not been a conscious decision. I am open to working with them as long as I get a good script but for the time being, Bhabhi is keeping me really busy. I'd say that it's my individual choice not to do too many things at the same time.

As an actor, do you feel that Indian television is getting bogged down with too many family dramas and saas bahu serials?

See, these serials are very high on TRPs so we cannot complain. Even if people do think that we are being fed with an overdose of family dramas and saas bahu serials, the audience wants it and we are just meeting their demand.

You have also worked in a feature film. Tell us more about that?

I've completed work on Lottery which is also the debut film of singer Abhijeet Sawant. It's a romantic thriller and the film is supposed to release in August.

And how was Abhijeet Sawant as a co-actor?

We are both a director's actor and since it was Abhijeet's first stint with acting, he did go for some workshops to get into the mould. We had fun on the sets and it was a learning experience for both of us.

Fianlly, is Rucha single and ready to mingle?

With the schedule I have, my personal life goes for a complete toss most of the time but yes, I'd just like to clarify that I'm single and not too ready to mingle yet.
