Not a fan of Alia, but how everyone has singled out her and being bashed left, right and center is kinda beyond me.

People are pretending as if Bollywood was a happy family place before Kjo-Alia came into scene and before them, roles were never (unfairly) given from one actor to another.

Having said that, did Alia deserve Filmfare for Gullyboy? Definitely NOT.

They didn’t start it but they definitely made way worse and quite apparent that everyone can see it. No one has benefited from nepotism as much as Alia does before and that’s why she’s getting what she’s getting for it. SIMPLE.

This is simply not true that they've made it worse. There are so many producer/director-actor combos that have done 10-15+ films together or used those connections to get more films. Bollywood has always been about your connections. It's just that today with social media and access to so many interviews, we are now actually hearing a lot about how casting for films works so we are very aware of nepotism, favouritism, etc.

Films can be served on a platter, success CAN NOT!

Their are so many variables in achieving success and fame in Bollywood including your talent, your connections, your PR, your off-screen personality, your general vibe as a person etc...
BUT the biggest and most unpredictable variable is how the audience is reacting to you.

Alia is quite mediocre, but she has that X-factor that's why she 'clicked' with the audience, while her contemporaries didn't.

Shraddha and Parineeti may be better (though I personally believe that they're all comparable), but they just couldn't get the audiences to react to them the way Alia did.
It could have been PR, it could have been Connections, it could have been that X-factor.

What matters is that Alia clicked with the audience and KJO saw her as an exciting business investment, and she deliverer.

The problem with Alia is that she did become the poster-child and that's why she facing all the heat, and 70-80% janta to bas behti ganga mein haath hi dho rahi hain. They couldn't care less about Sushant or any other outsider when the time was right.

Having said that, this lobbying structure of Bollywood needs to go, because very mediocre insiders talent is being promoted these days. But I still believe that Alia is not one of them.
