Chapter 3:

Hi Guys!

Firstly, I am deeply sorry for not updating this story for so long. There was just too much going on in my life that I couldn't focus on writing this story. But finally, I found the motivation and time to pen down this chapter. Hope you all will forgive me for keeping you waiting and enjoy this chapter.

It was past midnight now, Anirudh finally mustered some courage to go to their room. He wondered if she noticed him missing? Of course, she would have. Was she angry? Was she disappointed by his absence? The very thought of her getting hurt because of his actions pained him immensely. He slowly crept upstairs into their room. Closing the door behind him, he turned around only to stand rooted on the spot as his eyes fell on her.

With the moonlight falling on her through the open windows, she looked no less than an angel. He slowly walked towards their bed and sat down beside her making sure as to make no sound. That's when he noticed the trails of dried-up tears on her cheeks that were not visible from far. His heart ached to know that he was the reason behind those tears. If only he had not acted so cowardly! But what could he do? Writing letters and meeting each other in person were entirely different things. Though there was no denying that he had been waiting for her to return to his side since the very moment, he made her leave, but for some reason when the day finally came, he couldn't bring himself to welcome her back. It seemed that meeting her will once again awaken the feelings he thought he had somehow suppressed. Feelings; that he refused to acknowledge.

But his hands had a mind of their own as they slowly traced her tears tenderly. As if she recognized his touch even in her sleep, a soft smile appeared on her face as she caught his hands in hers and clasped it tightly. He sat frozen at her sudden action fearing even a slight movement from his side would wake her up and expose his actions. So what if she caught him admiring him secretly? He had all the rights to do that. She was his wife, after all. But the question was- did she see him as her husband? He doubted that. She was merely a child when he had married her. She didn't understand what marriage meant and how a relationship between husband and wife was supposed to be, and honestly, he didn't expect her to.

The unfavourable circumstances in which they got married and her age made it difficult for him to acknowledge her as his wife. And, in addition to that, there was Mini. Though their bond grew stronger over the years, their relationship strictly stayed as that of a mentor and mentee. And before it could progress into something more, he sent her off to London. Sighing, he slowly peeled his hands from her grasp and stood up. He looked at her some more and then turned and made his way to the study.

Since Bondhita was adapted to London's timezone and tired from all the travelling, Kaka instructed that nobody disturb her and let her rest. So, when Bondhita woke up, it was already afternoon. She hurriedly got ready and rushed down the stairs. More importantly, she hoped he was still at home. Once downstairs, she saw her Kaka Sasur enjoying his afternoon tea. She went to take his blessings as her eyes wandered everywhere for a sign of him, but to her disappointment, he was nowhere in sight. Maybe he was in his study, but she knew it was not true; otherwise, she would have felt his presence. Why did he leave again without meeting her? Was he not happy that she was back home? Squashing all the negative thoughts, she told herself that it must be because he didn't want to disturb her as she was tired. She decided to wait for his return in the evening.

"Bihari! Bahu ke liye khana laga do.", Kaka called out to Bihari as he was well aware that his Bahu had skipped dinner yesterday. Bondhita could feel her stomach rumbling with hunger as she sat down at the dining table. Bihari served her the food. Once done, she rose to go to the study. "Bahurani Ji apne toh Roshogulle ko haath bhi nhi lagaya. Kya ab apko Roshogulle pasand nhi hain?", asked Bihari who was surprised to see Bondhita not even touch Roshogulla that used to be her favourite dish since childhood. "Nahi Bihari Kaka aaj bhi sabse jyada pasand hain mujhe Rashogulle. Par aaj mann nhi hai khane ka. Agar kha bhi liya toh swaad nhi aayega.", Saying this Bondhita went from there leaving Bihari wondering.

As soon as she entered his study, her eyes started getting moist automatically as she felt overwhelmed with emotions as numerous memories of their time spent together, in this very room flashed in front of her eyes. How did she manage to survive in London all these years without him by her side, she wondered? Those letters; was her answer.
