Where is Sushant Singh Rajput in the pecking order?

Sushant Singh Rajput is a very good actor, I'm sure most people would agree. Also most people would agree he is criminally underrated. I was just wondering, if Sushant was an insider like Ranbir or had the kind of contacts that Ranveer had, would he have reached greater heights?

Right now he's marginalized by the entire industry, and he doesn't even try to fit in. He lives in his own world, you can see it on Insta. I gather he's not the best networker either. He tries too hard to be intellectual, and comes across as psuedo. But leaving that aside...

If we look at his acting skills ( despite his dialogue delivery) he is a fine actor, restrained and natural on-screen. There is a level of sincerity in his performances which I find only in Rajkumar Rao, apart from him, in this generation. He gives it his all.

He's versatile, he can do a Kedarnath,a Sonchidiya and a Kai Po Che( he was excellent in all 3). He can pull off a Dhoni, he can bring in box-office numbers like in Chhichhore. Surely he should be rated higher? But no-one talks about him!

I'd rate his acting skills higher than Ayushman and Ranveer. He's only behind Ranbir, as of now, and of course Rajkumar Rao is at a different level. But unlike Rajkumar, he's also a star. He's popular among the masses to a certain extent-- he has a name which brings in numbers.

I agree he is talented. But somehow he gives under confident wibes. I really like him but may be during raabta time ,there were so many negative blinds against him. He is a hero material. He need good directors.

He doesn’t give a damn about the numbers game to be honest, more interested in science, philosophy, traveling and what not than trying to be a star. Having walked out on Yrf, not sucking up to Kjo doesn’t help either. He gave movies like Sonchiriya (hailed critically) and Chhichhore (bonafide blockbuster) and didn’t even got single nomination in any of the awards. He is simply not into politics of Bollywood, which cost him ample opportunities But despite all that he seem to content and happy which in the end-that’s all that matters.

I was watching an old interview of him (around 2013) where he mentioned that Irrfan is his favorite actor and he wants be like him. I think, he is following Irrfan's footsteps and trying to make his own way like Irrfan. But, yeah, the thing is, if he does this, amidst this much competition, it might affect him. But some people choose to do things in their way. Obviously, one has to flatter people to get work in industry. He is definitely an underrated actor. Hope, he gets good work which establish him as a top actor. He just needs one good film which clicks with the audience and he can get back to his top game, like Haider helped Shahid to come back with a bang.

He does his own thing and I respect him for it. Chhichhore was a big hit last year but he barely spoke about the success. His Instagram is really interesting, he posts about educational stuff instead of box office numbers like other actors.

I find Sushant better than Ranbir too. But yeah Rajkumar Rao is definitely better than him

he had openly expressed that Bollywood does not call or invite him to parties and he feels left out.

He also told a fan that only they can help him or he would be thrown out from Bollywood as he had no "Godfather".

Basically, he was shunned and he knew it

I thought that account was fake but anyways he’s right. He was much better than Ranger, Ranbir and new lalloos like Karthik and Vicky but he had no connections and the fact that he was in touch with his TV actors even after being a super hit actor, it seems he felt helpless and lonely in BW.
