Suicide....why? - Page 2

i've heard of instances where kids threaten suicide to their parents and some even go ahead with it. all this to get "revenge" from their parents for not giving them their way. i don't understand such mentality.

People who commit suicide...do they all have some sort of mental illness? This girl seemed to be "normal" for the lack of a better word.

Yes.commiting suicide is a bad thing..its an act of cowardice.

But..we cannot say why people feel like dying.The capacity of holding the problems varies from person to and if a person is repeatedly forced with some problems.....they may feel like dying..when someone feels like unprotected or when they find no reason for living they commit suicide.

Its rather foolishness to think that there is GOD for everything....if GOD were there people will not die according to their choice.

Suicide is a good example which depicts that there is no super power like GOD which controls acts of every living thing.....

We are born and we can make or break our life and our life is dependent only on the acts we do and the way we choose to respond to the situations....no external force helps us greatly..except for some solace....

I don't think it has much to do with mentality ...may be it is dependent on the tolerance levels of Suffering or pain....if these levels are low..people try to commit suicide...

Somany great..successful people commited suicide.....based on their suicide we cannot say they are stupid....at the sametime...this point alone makes us think......why such great people also commited suicide.....

People sometimes think suicide is the only way out of teh probelm when there is no one to solve the problem or people cant share the problem.Sometimes the problem is so big that people think there is no solution. One of my friend also committed suicide her problem was that when she was in class seven her mother went to overseas to work and my friend was told that her mum would call them in an year but it took more than an year.It was nearly two years taht her mother was in overseas and someone blamed her mother of stealing some one's money. She trusted her mother and i think they didnt got the visa and her father also used to scold her.But something else also happened and she suicided.I was not taht close friend of hers but she was really good person but i can say sumthing really bad would have happened to her amybe her father or motehr would have said somthing to her because she was always aganist suicide.She was also one of teh top three student of our class wonder why she did that and after sometime it was alo proved that her mother was innocent. So for some poeple when the problem is too much they just give up but i think they should fight n take the challenge of life untill they really dont have any solution.

I hope God gives all her friends and family the strength to come through this...

Suicide is definitely not the right option... it shouldn't even be the last option it's a definite no! You hear sometimes that someone was betrayed and so they committed suicide or whatever else the matter is... but why should you give up your life for someone else... this is your life and you should live it to the max... if someone has hurt you or whatever that doesn't mean that your life has to end now... no, you should turn a leaf over and start over again...

when you think about committing suicide you think about the person or people who don't like you and think that there's no point of you being there and that they can live without you... your existance is of no importance to them... but you should think about the people who do love you and do care about you... they are the ones who should be more meaningful to you not the ones who don't love you... what will these people do without you... they may be your parents, your children, the friends you have grown up with...

the thought of suicide should not come to your mind... if you have been hurt or whatever... you should start over again with the people who do love and care for you...

That is really shocking. My condolences to the family and friends.

I think even a normal person can take unthinkable steps under extreme conditions, you never know. For example many normal people react violently when get angry. It is easy to say it is cowardice to commit such a thing, but really sometimes brain acts impulsively which may lead to such acts. Basically dimaag thodi der ke liye rationally sochna band kar deta hai..lekin tab tak der ho jaati hai.

Just thought I'd post this article from the Telegraph about the recent suicides in Wales, UK and the worry generated.

It's a really worrying phenomena because these children outwardly seemed OK........

so what was their reason for ending their lives and do these reasons sound "like the usual " ones or is it a modern day phenomena???


Websites to be studied after Bridgend suicides

A coroner is to investigate links between social networking websites and a suicide craze sweeping through a small town.

The craze, apparently fuelled by discussions on sites such as Bebo and a desire for prestige among peers, has led to seven deaths and a spate of attempted suicides in and around Bridgend, South Wales.


Bridgend in South Wales has seen a series of teenage suicides which appear linked by social networking websites


Phillip Walters, the local coroner, said yesterday that he was "desperately concerned" and urged parents to be alert.

A friend of the victims, Anne-Marie Eagle, 17, said that suicide had become such a fixation for local youngsters that she had considered it herself.

She added: "It has become a trend, it has become a cool thing to do in our area - I have thought about doing it myself.

"With all the deaths I have got very upset and depressed but I could never be that selfish."

Miss Eagle is a cousin of Liam Clarke, 20, who killed himself a month ago, and a close friend of the latest victim, Natasha Randall, 17.

advertisementShe said: "When she heard about the other lads, Tasha would talk about hanging a lot. She was fascinated by it.

"She thought it would be easy to do. Everyone around here is doing it, it's absolutely doing my head in.

"Two more friends of mine tried to commit suicide over the weekend as well. They did it because of Tasha, I know they did."

One of them, Leah Phillips, 15, was found just in time by her stepfather, David, 50, after trying to hang herself at home. She spent three days in intensive care.

Her mother, Tina, 41, said: "We don't know how long she had been there. My husband lifted her up and then our neighbour ran in and cut her down.

"Leah says she doesn't know why she did it. She honestly can't remember much about it."

A recent study by Papyrus, a charity dedicated to preventing young suicides, found that a growing number of young people committed suicide after reading about it on the internet or using special chat rooms.

It said there had been at least 27 internet-related suicides by young people in the past six years, the youngest of whom was 13.

Mr Walters, the Bridgend and Glamorgan Valleys coroner, said he would be looking at the sites for any clues as to how they might have encouraged people to take their own lives.

"In the meantime, I want to warn youngsters about the possible dangers these websites can pose.

"I would also like to warn parents to be actively on the alert for signs of their children being influenced by others on these sites."

To give another insight on suicide. In the movie Suicide Club the child asks Mitsuko, 'are you here to repair connection with yourself?'. Suicide Club is a bizarre hard to understand film, but the content is profound and gripping. It delves into issues like society, peer pressure and self realization.

Happiness is not what it always seems to be. Perhaps one is not content being content. A person may have educational credentials, great job, loving family, comfortable lifestyle and everything we perceive to be the ultimate human dream - be happily ever after. But are we? Who are we, why are we here? What remains if we take the credentials, the job, the family and wealth away? What do we have as our own? What is our personal identity? What is the meaning of being oneself, what is the purpose of ones life? Why have be become dependent on being defined and find purpose in these external things? What is intrinsic to us.

Sometimes the answer is that suicide is the result of being disconnected with oneself, as simply complicated as that.

I'm really sorry for your loss.

I don't think there is a valid reason for suicide. Mostly people who have suicidal tendencies have some kind of mental illness. Two reasons why it is difficult to prevent is because it is hard to diagnose unlike physical illness, secondly people are not very receptive towards accepting mental illness because of the fear of society. I know someone who seems depressed for no reason often times, but neither her nor her family accepts the fact, nor do they want to get help for the society might think she is mad or something. I'm not saying that therapy always works, but at least one should try to get help if there is a problem, same as we do for physical illnesses. I know of a very young guy who committed suicide at 26. Don't know the reason, but later came to know he has a family history of depression, people just don't take it seriously.

Who is to say that your soul will know rest in peace?typically only our body has to give up.. nobody can say that...

Sorry to hear that but in most such situations depression is the major cause... so medical reasons for suicide is mostly likely the caue...
