You are not India, so you might be unaware, but since early 2000s, when cable television became a rage, during trailers used to have "Super Hit", "Hit", "Blockbuster" inserted into them while the movie was in cinema, to create a fake perception into people's mind.

I still remember, once RVG Ki Aag ka trailer, showed that it is a superhit lol.

Production houses ask them now a days. They make these edits and send those to the lead and director.

Aise promotional type edit, pic or video or gif, dekho toh woh producers ke demand hai. Aaj kal TV premiere ke liye promote karna bhi mandatory hai.
