Were mid 2000s to early 2010s a better time?!

We had some pretty striking faces in the movies who had tremendous amount of screen presence, example: Deepika, Priyanka, Katrina, Kareena. Anushka started off well too. Hrithik, Shahid, Ranbir were the most significant male debuts no? Since the Khans were still ruling?

Songs were originals 😆 Vishal-Shekhar, Salim-Sulaiman, Pritam gave us some great albums. There were more rom-coms (a genre I feel has declined in the last couple of years) which were well made and enjoyable.

Disney Channel India was better without Doraemon 24x7 😆 They actually had good content.

Youth shows were getting popular like Kya Mast Hai Life, Miley Jab Hum Tum, Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani. They were all school/college based but had different styles of storytelling. That zamaane ka Kasautii was way better than abhi ke saas-bahu shows 😆 Ekta's K Street Pali Hill was way better compared to the supernatural Naagin type bs.

Television actors were talented, not caking up huge amounts of makeup and looked different unlike now. Sanaya, Drashti, Sukirti, Rati, Jennifer, Sanjeeda did well, so did the guys Gurmeet (Ramayan mein he was so cute), Vivian, Arjun, Karanvir. We had some great comedies like Khichdi, Sarabhai, Shararat.

We had good content as well. Of course today some great films are being made and web series are popular. But aren't the above mentioned points worth remembering?

In terms of talent, yes.

I despise the new talent coming in, and yes most of them are star kids and sorry to admit. They are the most average bunch ever witnessed imo.

Nepotism is still very prevalent as much as it was back then. But there's more media attention on it today and it is becoming much more noticeable. and people are finally retaliating against it. which causes producers/directors to get defensive. and succummb to it more.

BW has turned more and more into an egoistic industry and has this mindset of me me and me. It nevers does good for the collectiveity of the industry

The overexposure to personal lives and social media have ruined everything, including the wholesome excitement we used to have at that time I feel. It's now also a competition of hype involving PRs, gossip and money instead of actual healthy 'competition'.

Not only that. This Z generation of actors are more privileged, more defensive. and are unable to see perspective beyond their life. Young people want what they want and don't want to be ridiculed for it either.

Just like last decade ppl thought Madhuri, Sridevi n others were the best n DP Sona pc types doesn't hold a candle... It happens.

This. The 80s kids will always be fond of the 90s. The 90s one of the 2000s.

As one grows older, you lose wonder and awe. And, we begin to look at the past with nostalgia. That's why a movie like DDLJ still charms but if it were made today, it'd be thrashed critically.

It's also a sign of times. HR is considered the last superstar. He came before the advent of social media. Most people grew up with HR, which is why even if he disappears, he always comes back with blockbusters.

The pre social media stars have that advantage.
