Were Rani and Preity more popular in their prime than Kareena?

I know that Kareena survived longer despite being less talented than Rani and Preity because of being from Kapoor family, but was she more popular than Rani and Preity in their prime?

No. R & P were more popular and got better roles.

Rani was quite popular in her prime but Kareena stayed in news more owing to her affairs. I still remember how people would talk about her personal life more than her movies while Rani was talked more about her performances not that she didn't have any affairs. But they were in news mostly for different reasons. Priety was quite popular and disappeared suddenly owing to her business ventures (IPL). She was in her prime when she sidelined BW.

While Rani is very talented, by no means is Kareena less talented than Preity Zinta. While Kareena has given strong critically acclaimed performances in Omkara, Chameli, Yuva, jab We Met, Talaash, Kurbaan, I just don’t see PZ having that range

I remember seeing Yuva and liking both Rani and Kareena's performances. They were poles apart but they were both natural. I guess Kareena's talents stand out on her own and so does Rani. Preity doesn't have that scope. She's alright but does not stand out as much as Rani and Kareena do. Sometimes I wonder if drugs did actually contribute to her career since she was rumoured to be doing that a lot.

I don’t think so. Rani is talented for sure but I wouldn’t say she is more talented than Kareena. They are equally talented. When I saw Mujhe Dosti Karogi, I didn’t find much difference of their talents. One difference between them is that Kareena is more glamorous than Rani. Just saw Good News songs and trailer. Kareena is still glamorous even when she is around 40. Preity is no way talented than Kareena. She is mostly known as doing bubbly girl role opposite of big stars. In Veer Zaara, Rani’s performance was 10 times better than her even when Rani was the second lead. And people need to get over the Kapoor tag for Kareena. Vidya Balan and PC also lasted so long but no one says anything to them. Only Kapoor name cannot make somebody to last so long in the industry. Her sister Karishma also have the Kapoor tag but the Kapoor tag couldn’t help her to last so long like Kareena. Bachchan tag couldn’t help Abhishek to save his career. Star kids can only get few movies for few years because of their family background but if they are non-talented, then they would fade away like Esha, Fardeen, Zayed, Tusshar or Athiya. People can last in the industry for long because of their hard work, talent and how serious they are. Rani is also doing movies. So she is still around like Kareena.

Rani was appreciated more as an actress and rightly so, she was so brilliant. After Kajol left, she took over. PZ ruled the year for KHNH but the next year Rani won all the awards again for HT instead of PZ for VZ.

Personally I feel Kareena had considerably less good performances than Rani. I would say Rani was more loved & appreciated. Kareena was more in the news for offscreen buzz till she came up with Geet. As much as I’ve liked her, she had given some BAD performances.

Preity could have done all these bebo films equally well.

And she had a better range than mostly a hamming kareena, in Kya kehna, Dil se, Veer Zara, kal ho na ho, the last layer, chori chori chupke chupke & Videsh ....

Infect bebo had potential to add her signatured over acting in all these films preity has done with amazing ease & natural performances.

3 things Kareena has over PZ are sex appeal, KAPOOR surname and glamour. In Bollywood these factors matter a lot. Rani is in another league.
