There are those actors who arrive with a bang at the box-office and everyone knows about it from day one.
On that note, Shraddha Kapoor has got to be at the top of the list of actors (male or female) who've been giving big hits in the millennial generation sans any brouhaha either from the media or the audience or her own coterie — the first section choosing not to make a noise about it, the last one being above tom-toming her achievements and the middle faction remaining largely unaware on account of the decisions of the other two. But the proof is there in broad daylight for all to witness. In 2019 itself, Shraddha has been the only female Bollywood star to have delivered two back-to-back blockbusters and 150 cr+ grossers with Chhichhore and Saaho (Hindi version), and that's after having amassed hit after hit since her debut. This year, hitherto only one female actor (Kriti Sanon - Luka Chuppi, Housefull 4) and three male actors (Akshay Kumar - Housefull 4, Mission Mangal, Kesari; Ayushmann Khurrana - Dream Girl, Bala, Article 15; Hrithik Roshan - War, Super 30) from the same industry have delivered more than a solitary, and none have managed to do so with successive blockbusters
regardless how much the same section from the media and so-called influential critics were quick to writer her obituary again — before she was back with a hurricane that went by the name of Stree
The aforementioned scribes and critics would have you believe that Rajkummar Rao was the biggest selling point of Stree, but with all due respect to Rajkuammar, and with complete acknowledgement of his stellar performance in Stree (and with the confidence that he knows how much I love him, but can accept the fact of the matter is that the opening of the film was down to Shraddha's fan-following (just go back and check the fate of the handful of horror comedies preceding Stree, not titled Golmaal Again, as also the collection of other Rajkummar Rao films released before and after Stree), after which the content won the audience over
In fact, Shraddha has had to constantly swim against a tidal wave of negativity from a section of the media and critics who believe they're above what the audience desires, but she rises like phoenix time and again with aplomb and without so much as a high-pitched shriek, leave alone shouting her achievements from the rooftops. As they say in the trade: "Yeh public hai, yeh sab jaanti hai (This is the public, and they know everything)" — something Shraddha is well aware of. She trusts her stardom and her constantly burgeoning fandom. Being the only actress from among her generation to have delivered four blockbusters so far is enough proof of that trust. Just check her box-office performance below for yourself and you'll know what I'm talking about
Total Films: 15
Hits: 8
Hit Ratio: 53.33%
Blockbusters: 4
A hit ratio of above 50% so early into your career is like gold for any actor. 4 blockbusters to your name at this stage of your career, with you having contributed considerably to the fortunes of all four of them, is the stuff of legend and almost unheard of for any actor in any film industry
If Shraddha Kapoor keeps this up, then it may not be long before she achieves that rarest of rare monikers — that of being hailed as a female superstar in Bollywood (only seven actresses — Madhubala, Vyjayanthimala, Hema Malini, Rekha, Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit, Deepika Padukone have attained this truly unique distinction till now), ergo, an actress who can carry a film all on her own regardless of who's her Director or costars or someone who holds as big a drawing power as the male star she's costarring with. At this rate, Shraddha has a real shot at becoming the eight female superstar in the history of the Hindi film industry
