OK movie, a one-time watch.

Performances are the main highlight of the film. Each and every actor has excelled in the movie, especially Yami Gautam and Ayushman Khuranna of course has delivered a top-notch perf. Bhoomi is mostly one-note but I guess that's what her role demanded.

The first half is pure comedy, second half a bit preachy. But the movie is only 2 hrs 12 minutes, so doesn't drag.

Bala Has Excellent Growth On Saturday

Bala showed excellent gains on Saturday as it grossed around 15.50 crore nett taking the two day collections to around 25 crore nett plus. The growth is around 60% which should mean a good hold on Monday and a HIT film.

The growth is less than Dream Girl but that is probably because that film was very good in Delhi NCR and East Punjab and these circuits grow the most on Saturday. Also Dream Girl was low in Mumbai and collections doubled there on Saturday. Bala had a better start than Dream Girl in Mumbai by around 30%.

The trend is similar to Dream Girl but that will only be known on Monday as that is when the actual trend comes into play because Saturday growth is big now for most films. Dream Girl grossed 43.22 crore nett over the first weekend and that will probably be the target for Bala.

Bala Has A Very Good Weekend

Bala scored a very good weekend of 42 crore nett with a solid weekend trend. The film started with pretty good collections and made very good gains on Saturday and Sunday especially on the former. The obvious comparison is Dream Girl and the collections are a little lower than that film but the real race between these two films is from Monday onward..

Bala has scored better numbers than Dream Girl at most of the bigger multiplexes but collections in mass centres and single screens were better for Dream Girl. That is not to say that Dream Girl did well in mass and singles, just it was a little better than Bala though in Gujarat the business of Bala was better. The main difference between Bala and Dream Girl is the business in North and Rajasthan where Dream Girl was better, the rest sees Bala a little ahead or both in the same range. Dream Girl collected 7.20 crore nett on monday and that is probably the target for Bala. The collections of Bala for the first weekend are as follows.

Friday - 9,50,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 15,00,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 17,50,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 42,00,00,000 apprx
