Saw it yesterday and I must say this was one of the best movies of the year and one of the best performances of Ayushmann.

The film really managed to showcase both humour and emotions in a very balanced way. The first half had very relatable comedy and second half dived into social problems but without getting preachy. The last presentation scene where Ayushmann throws his wig and tells the audience to accept themselves was very heart warming and probably my best scene of the entire film.

Both the girls were amazing and I loved how the film subverted the expectation by not having Ayushmann marry Bhumi when it looked like they were heading towards them falling in love.

His line to her in the end that 'will there be no filmy ending here' seemed like he was breaking the fourth wall which was pretty clever.

Overall, 4/5 for me.

Bala And Housefull 4 Are Hit On Wednesday

Bala was hit with a big drop on Wednesday after the partial holiday as it went down 45% to collect 4.75-5 crore nett. It is still a good collection for a Wednesday but the first week will now be less than Dream Girl. Bala has a six day total of around 64.50 crore nett and the first week is looking at a total of 69 crore nett.

The film is on course to become a HIT but it will be the second Friday which will confirm it. The film cant afford to have this sort of drop on Friday now as that would take it to low levels. It will have competition for Marjaavan but that might not be too good at the bigger multiplexes and there is a chance that Bala could lead in these on Friday.

Housefull 4 also seen a big drop as it came down 50% from Tuesday to collect 1.25 crore nett to take its total to 199 crore nett. It will become the second comedy film is history to collect 200 crore nett at the box office and both of the biggest comedy grossers will be Diwali releases as Golmaal Again came on Diwali 2017.

Bala Has A Good First Week

Bala had good collections in the first week collecting around 69.25 crore nett. The film did have a drop on Wednesday but consolidated well on Thursday as North India showed good growth while the rest collected similar collections to Wednesday

The film has done good to decent business across all multiplexes of India. The single screens are low as the film has nothing for them. The first week collections are around 1 crore nett lower than te last Ayushmann Khurana film Dream Girl but the race between the films actually starts on the second Friday and the target is to do better post the first week as that is the path to a higher lifetime total. Bala will emerge a HIT unless there is a huge fall on the second Friday and if it can really sustain it may emerge a SUPER HIT like a Chhichhore or Dream Girl. The collections of Bala till date are as follows.

Saturday - 15,00,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 17,75,00,000 apprx
