Why hasn’t Kartik apologized for the marital rape monologue?

Bhumi Pednekar’s upcoming film Pati Patni Aur Woh has sparked controversy after Kartik Aaryan’s monologue about marital rape from the film went viral. Speaking to Zoom the Sonchiriya actress has issued an apology in Kartik's behalf.

If we have hurt anybody’s sentiments, we are sorry, because that wasn’t the intention. But everybody who is involved in Pati Patni Aur Woh, does not belong to that school, does not belong to that thought process.

Earlier this week, the team launched the trailer of Pati Patni Aur Woh the cast and crew of the film were flooded with online backlash for the dialogue. The film will feature Kartik as a middle-class husband, Bhumi as his wife and Ananya Panday plays the ‘other woman’ in this equation.

The trailer encompasses a scene wherein Kartik complains to his friend how men are called rapists if they force their wives into having sex.

Kartik says “Biwi se sex maang lein toh hum bikhaari. Biwi ko sex na de toh hum atyachaari. Aur kisi tarah jugaad laga ke usse sex haasil kar lena toh balaatkari bhi hum hai. (If we ask our wives for sex then we’re called beggars, if we deny them sex then we’re called torturers, and if we coerce them into having sex with us, we’re called rapists),” he says in the video.

Now that Bhumi has issued an apology on Kartik’s behalf for the marital rape joke, why hasn’t Kartik yet issued an official apology?

Impromptu dialogue tha? Writer Director Producer are more to be blamed.

Why should National hearthrob and krusshh bother about these petty outrage ?

Even though I completely dislike Karthik - in this case Onus is more on writer/director. And I’m glad there is awareness of what is acceptable and what is not in the name of entertainment.

May be karthik is waiting on their instructions on how to react in media - he is useless like that!

I agree writers and directors need to share the blame but they aren't the "face" of the movie nor are they promoting unlike actors! ... Actors are the face hence onus lies on them to rectify or clarify anything problematic about a movie!

its good that the team have listened to the public reaction and realise that the joke is wrong and they are now apologising, i am sure all of them feel bad about it, they didn't intend to offend anyone but people got offended and now they are apologising for it, i read they are going to edit out the dialogue

Why should he apologize. He is playing a character which is the director's/writer's vision and not his. Blame them. Same happened with Kabir singh, where people were bashing shahid b/c of a character he was portraying and not advocating. All actors don't advocate the content in the scripts they choose. If they did, they would not be artists.
