Scare and horror-terror factor depends on,... your age/time-frame, availability of those kinda movies already in the market, ( that, came earlier ), U, being a frequent Movie-watcher or not,... , and you are used to with, music, sound, Screen size, loneliness ( watching alone and time of the day,.. ) ,... and many such factors,...
The time I grew up, ( per availability of such movies at that time ) , Bees saal baad, Parde ke peechhe ( a Panja was coming ) , Darwaaza, Dau ga zameen ke neeche, Woh kaun thii, Dhund, Bhoot Bangla, Mahal, iittefaq, Neel-kamal ( sleep-walking ) ,.. were considered the most scariest,...
Later it came, Holly-ones,..The Exorcist, Omen, Coma ( lashes hanging in stature ) , Poltergeist, Dracula, Friday the 13th,..... ... and it made a big Hoopla,.. ! In Ahmedabad I have even witnessed the ambulances were standing outside, after each show, for whoever, were found not shifting up from their seats,... after, that possessed Exorcist baby was moving its neck to 180-360 degree,... the movie Exorcist.
Today you see back,.. n' feel, there was absolutely nthg in those,........
Few even felt, Tarzan and Kingkong kinda movies scary even, at that time,..... when that giant ape, shakes Empire state building and takes lady on his palm and such,....
In my case, earlier,.... I was not watching more movies and I remember, I had never seen any late night shows of 9-12 and had scared even in an veeeery ordinary movie ( silly of me ) , when I went with my Brother. Movie was not even in Horror genre from any angle,..
It was a very normal movie , Sanjiv Kumar's " Yeh Hi Hai Zindagi " where in few scenes, he goes on terrace at late dark Night 12.00 AM,..and every day ,Lord Krishna was appearing and, was coming to see him,.... and every-time He goes on Terrace at Night, ( and waiting for someone to appear from thin air,.. ) It got scared me in theater at that time, while sitting among da whole lot audience ! Lol !! Funny ! No ?
