Yes, I think HR is better than Ranbir and not due to Ranbir’s lack of diversity. I don’t mind a strong actor staying in their comfort zone as long as they blow me away and are the best in their “niche”. Not every actor needs to be good at dancing, etc. Ranbir is just not a great actor IMO. He is good/average but he has yet to blow me away or make me think about his performance after watching his movie. His eyes DO NOT EMOTE, they are dead. He doesn’t take risks when acting (again, not talking about movie choices) and completely immerse himself in a character and let loose. There is always so much control, measure and the performance is always polished. That’s not what great acting is IMO. Acting should be raw and sometimes uncomfortable to watch and experience. To be a great actor you need to be a highly empathetic and emotional person - the greatest actors are “special” individuals. What works for Ranbir is the fact that he doesn’t overreact (which people in BW feel = good acting), has a confident/stable presence on screen and his surname.
I am personally not a fan of bulky, pseudo MJ Hrithik. I hate when his movies make him look Mr Muscle or MJ. He is a natural, he is very enjoyable to watch and doesn’t need this. The perfect example is his role in JA. He was stellar...no dance, no histrionics, etc.
