Govinda not being accepted in serious roles by audience has more to do with him not getting good movies apart from David Dhawan comedies. But Govinda has still excelled in serious, dramatic, intense acting whenever given a chance, and I think he can pull off a Dangal as well.

He was offered Taal and Gadar. Films that were not the typical comedy films.

Govinda is more natural

but amir is better n solid filmography post lagaan

govind is not bad in some modes...but aamir is a complete actor.

Both are very different ..

Noone can match comic timing of Govinda.. infact amir is also fan of Govinda's comic timing.. He is the best actor when it comes to comedy..

Aamir khan is the most complete actor and he can act brilliant in all genre be it action, comedy, drama, romance.. Aamur is a complete package..

Govinda is a natural. Aamir is talented. Both are good. But if i have to pick i will pick Aamir though i appreciate and recognise Govinda's performances.

BUT....

Govinda was really talented in all generations, he gave FLAWLESS performances in ACTION, DRAMA and ROMANCE categories throughout in his movies in 80s....

Its just that industry just limit him to comedies only from 90s onwards (as he was giving back to back comic hits with DD) , lekin in action, romance and drama categories he was not lesser than anyone.

shakti Kapoor admitted that aamir use to spy on govinda in his film shooting to takes some tips how natural govinda's expression used to be. Govinda was good in action and drama and emotion before he moved to comedy. Hatya, Zulm ki hukamat, swarg, shola Shabnam, aag are few movies where he showed his diverse natural ability as an actor. Ammir being a brilliant actor was better with his film choice.
