It works the other way too, Bollywood does not promote their cinema enough in the south. They have never tried.

Also most of the cinema that's churned out in Bollywood is not relatable at all or they are most remakes of south masala movies.

Content wise, regional cinemas have always been superior no wonder a movie like Badhai ho and Andhadhun gets lapped up and hailed but these kind of cinema with different content and interesting plot lines are common in the south and regional cinema.

As for remakes, I mean originals are always superior in most cases, why watch a remake when the original is available. Moreover they make a mockery of the original. Remakes have been happening for long, even a padosan is a remake from the original Bengali story. I had seen the tamil version too , padosan came way later. This is just one example, there were so many sivaji/gemini movies that were copied to Hindi.

I want to see more collaboration of south and north cinema , usually all the technical people are from the south, but they are never identified, but the more it happens , the more its better for cinema as a whole.

It's good that south cinema is being slowly and steadily reaching pan india be it through Prabhu Deva's dance or AR Rahman's songs or a Mani Ratnam's or a Bahubali , KGF or Saaho or a Kolaveri di , or through Shankar's Robot etc

I dont understand people lol - people say that South films are superior, but almost all of the " South remakes" that I have seen in Bollywood are boring and regressive af.

I can think of many south films which had remakes that were boring and nothing great

Maybe a handful of them are good the rest as just plain bad.

I think most people say South is better because they just want to look different and appear to be intelligent.

Bollywood doesn't take the south market seriously. They would rather go and woo the chinese audience than the south indians. I mean I understand why would they care when they have such a huge market at their disposal.Aise hi toh Bollywood didn't get so much money out of nowhere. They had bigger markets so for them putting efforts for south markets isn't worth the effort. They might even see the south markets as added income and nothing else. Its the south industry that saw potential in reaching for the northern markets and put that much-needed effort to connect to the audience and thats how it clicked. Look at how Prabhas promoted the movie or for that matter brought more Bollywood actors to the project and even tried dubbing for it. Itni mehnat kaunsa Bollywood actor karega to connect to the south audience?

Salman knows he has huge fan following in the south. If he said that then its wrong. Kuch na karke bhi itna bada fan following and he is still complaining. Had hai. 😆

A z-grade Bollywood star still has more clout/popularity worldwide than South Stars. None of them appear on any lists and people hardly know them.

Partially right. Fact is, nobody wants to watch BW films.

South had alternatives (their own movie industries). So people leaned towards them. North belt did not have alternatives (apart from B Grade Bhojpuri films). So, they got stuck. Now with Hindi dubbed South Indian movies, they also have found an alternative.

Basically, Indians want nativity in movies. Characters dressing and speaking as Desis. If you keep feeding them SOTY's, they will watch anything else (Be it Srilankan or Bangladeshi).

Content is not the key. We have been watching nonsense in Amitabh's era too (his 80's movies). But he represented Aam Admi; A coolie, a driver. Today's Bollywood mainstream hero is a multibillionaire. Movies where stars act as aam admis are not mainstream movies. They are niche movies (like Super 30).

Even though SI movies are as as crappy as Bollywood, people can connect with the characters, dialogues.

Dangal is a crap movie...sorry.., with too many fake stories and riding on the audience sentiments of feminism and beti bachao beti padhao types. If south rejected it,..wow...I applaud them for their great taste.

And Andhadhun has that Ayushman guy. I cant stand to see his mug. Have never watched a single movie of his yet and probably will keep it that way. Maybe southies feel the same way about him. Again kudos to them.

😂😂yeah I think Mumbai is north India for most people bcz bollywood woha h. But Marathis n Gujaratis r not seen as north Indians here. Gujaratis specially r seen as happy go lucky people apne dhun me khoya hua n most of them HV thriving business here. bengali intellectual tv wale bunch kabhi kabhi bolte h gujaratis take risks n go for business hum ye kiu nhi krt. Their business mind is liked here, although most bongs won't go in business. Gujaratis n madwadis r seen as kind of similar actually. Most local big shops of all groceries n stationaries r run by them.

Ab to shun rhi hu for southies east n NE is north too😅I guess anything above bindhya is technically 😅😅 in Bengal north India mainly is Hindi bolnewale log irrespective of place😁

Most of Amitabh Bachchan's films had him wearing a Suit Boot. Wat was so "Indian" about Kabir Singh or Saaho? One had full of premarital sex and other had songs like Baby, be my Bad girl or some trashy lyrics 😆

If BW is going down, it is mostly bcoz they started remaking these OTT tacky humor filled South masala films like Rowdy Rathore, Wanted, R Rajkumar, etc.
