Amitabh Bachan, Dilip Kumar were highly and are highly respected in AP. Their films were watched alot.

And ppl love SRK too.

Even Ranveer Singh got recent appreciation for Simmba.

But that's about it.

So true, southies prefer South Movies tamil, Telungu, Malayalam n then watch Hollywood movies..

There are only few like me who love bollywood arround me.

Bollywood has a genuine market in South India. That is, they don't have to dub to get the audience to watch Hindi movies. People in the South, across four Southern states, consume Hindi movies as it is. No need to dub for them, this includes Tier 2 stations as well. And that market is more than 50 Cr. Compare that to North audience watching direct 'South' Indian movies, it peanuts.

Coming to the dubbing, I can't say about other industries, but the Telugu market has been receptive. Salman Khan in the 90's itself had huge blockbusters. SRK had a hit too. Hrithik was a rage post KNPH and his Krish/D2 and Jodha Akbar were a big success in dubbing. But, neither Hrithik nor others took it seriously. I doubt even the collections were reported or added.

A combination of the above two scenarios has made Bollywood not bother about the Southern side of the audience, the real masses. They are happy with what they get and they will continue to get that forever.

The success of Saaho (Prabhas) in Bollywood and the lack of, of Bollywood in the South, is simply due to the quality of the content. A Subhash Ghai, Rajiv Rai, and Rajesh Roshan at their prime would have delivered massively in the current market dynamics. Bollywood has no replacement for them for nearly two decades now. SS Rajamouli belongs to that old school masala directors who is peaking at the right time.

Who is asking them to dub for themselves? You think Hindi comes easily to South Indian actors? They work hard, simple as that. If BW actors are not prepared to work as hard and refuse to get out of their comfort zone, then they should stop dreaming of becoming pan-India stars.

Heroines like Kajal Aggarwal, Tamannaah are Punjabis but are proficient in South Indian languages. They worked hard because their livelihood depended on it. If an SRK or a Salman don't want to work as hard, it is up to them.

Most mainstream Indian movies have a pathetic storyline, yes. All the bad that is there in South is applicable to BW as well.

Sonu Sood is not a mainstream BW hero. If you go down that alley you will come across many Hindi character artistes who are doing well in the South.

There are plenty of Hindi movies that have done well in the South. Its not like no Hindi movie has worked in the southern circuit. I dont think movies working or not working is function of whether people worked hard or not.

I am not talking about Hindi movies as Hindi movies. Of course Hindi movies have a market down South, among audiences who regularly watch Hindi movies. I am talking about the others who don't watch Hindi movies.

Only recent one is Kabir singh which was slammed by feminists and loved by public . Bahubali, KGF and Sahoo aren't remakes..They r multilinguals..So should we say north Indians r more welcoming to south Indians?

Read n try to comprehend what I wrote. I said south remakes n inspirations don't do well but entertaining and original content is lapped up by the south Indians. I was dissing kadel's excuses and not the content.

For us north Indians r Hindi or Hindi se similar language speaking states,south is the 5 south Indian states,while Gujarati n Marathis r differently acknowledged.also madwadis from Rajasthan r differently acknowledged😅

My response was just to this one statement " The real reason is most are South movie remakes"..

I live in South (though some people don't consider blore in south😆)..So I know hindi movies work here
