For us north Indians r Hindi or Hindi se similar language speaking states,south is the 5 south Indian states,while Gujarati n Marathis r differently acknowledged.also madwadis from Rajasthan r differently acknowledged😅
Technically for south Indians leaving the 5 states and the islands rest all are north Indians 😁
Most accepted classification is that the region south to the vindhya's is Dravida hence tamil, telugu, kannada, marathi and gujrati are known as pancha dravida languages. Though in modern era marathi and gujrati stopped associating themselves with dravida and tamil and malayalam have been separated so now there are four major dravida languages. Though there are people as far as in balochistan who speak dravida language but they are not considered part of the main four dravida language group 😕
