If I ask you for the last memorable hit of Hrithik that comes to your mind first - it most likely will be Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. That movie was in 2011. And that movie was amazing because of many reasons and unfortunately Hrithik was one of the minor reasons. Since 2011, he has not given one memorable film. Sure Super 30, Kaabil, Bang Bang and Agnipath were profitable ventures but none of them left any long-lasting impression on the audience's mind. It is kind of sad that actor with his caliber and 20 years long career has just 4-5 movies that are remembered, without scrambling heads much. As an actor (not leading man) his graph is pretty much stagnant horizontal line, with Lakshya and Guzaarish hitting high points whereas look at the other actors who started off with him, who started lower than him but have been showing improvement with each passing movie. Shahid who started around same time has been pushing his bar higher up consistently. As an actor one needs to push himself and outdo his previous performance - be it script selection or acting.

He has Greek God looks, performs well and has amazing dancing skills but that's about it. He is not extraordinary in acting. His script selection is often bad. Fiza and Mission Kashmir were such risky experimental roles for a newcomer. But then soon Hrithik fell into the trap of going for commercial successes. He burnt his fingers a couple of times when he tried something different (Lakshya & Guzaarish) and then he chose to never go that route. I cannot fathom the idea that someone chose to make a Kaabil in this decade. Kaabil was 80s ke kaabil story. It is sad that Hrithik hasn't selected one intelligent script which could hit the balance of commercial and critical success.

War seems to me to again fall in the category of one high octane action moment to another, without a proper semblance of plot or story. No doubt it will be a commercial success but will it add to Hrithik's filmography?

So, what is your take on Hrithik?

first line and bam.. sorry not gonna read the whole thing! His last hit was a month ago! Super 30 making double it's opening weekend in other words a very respectable and accepted Hit/Super Hit.. now give it rest!

edited to add: if you can name each and every one those movies.. then they weren't as "forgetable" as you think or hoped!

I like him mostly because of his looks but he is a pretty good actor, you can't take that away from him. You easily skipped Jodha Akbar from the movies you mentioned which I think is one of his best performances along with Guzarish and Lakshya. If you are comparing him with Shahid, I find HR to be much better than him. Shahid started his career almost 3 years after him and has done more movies than HR. HR became selective after delivering back to back flops which to some extent worked for him and to some extent against. For the last decade, how many flops did he deliver? The last that came to my mind is Mohenjo Daro. He also suffered health issues that added to the set back. Imo, his performance in Super 30 was quite spectacular because with those looks to pull off a character like Anand Kumar and be convincing is in itself a hard job. So yeah, I'm pretty much satisfied with what he has done and has achieved so far.

Yeah, Jodha Akbar was good and Koi Mil Gaya too. But in the last decade, the only film that audiences universally loved (other than Super 30-which is debatable) is zindagi na milegi dobara. I am not talking about myself, but from what I hear generally. Personally, I even liked Kites and Hrithik-Barabara chemistry was awesome.

The last hit of his that comes to my mind is Super 30 and imo it's one of his best, if not his best and he is still earning praises for it. Before that there was Agneepath which was a good movie acclaimed commercially and critically, in which he was brilliant. I personally liked Krrish 3 too tbh 😆

Regarding Hrithik per se, I feel that the gaps between his film releases have been detrimental to his career. For example, Bang Bang came in 2014 and his next came 2 years later with Mohenjo Daro which wasn't really a great film. Like even Aamir takes gaps but he mostly comes with really good films. He could have easily been at the top but he isn't in the top four/box-office race, usually stays away from the limelight, gives equal importance if not more time to his family and sons, and is admittedly a bit lazy :v

I think he is insanely good-looking, an unbelievable dancer with incredible charisma onscreen and a really, really good actor. He's a complete package ❤️

Also, just wanted to add that I don't think he burnt his fingers with Guzaarish. The only drawback was that it was a commercial failure. Otherwise his performance in it earned him awards and it's still regarded as his career-best by many.

I find him an above average actor, but yes, he's a complete package👍🏼
