Taapsee Pannu is currently on the seventh sky with the phenomenal success of her latest release - Mission Mangal. Though, Taapsee has a small part to play in the film but it is equally significant for the plot of the movie. The Jagan Shakti directorial also stars Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Kirti Kulhari, Sonakshi Sinha, Nithya Menon and Sharma Joshi among others.
Mission Mangal managed to cros the coveted Rs 100 crore mark at the box office in just five days of its release and Taapsee Pannu is visibly excited and happy with the milestones the film continues to gather. What makes the film and its success even more special is the fact that it doesn't fall in the category of a typical commercial pot-boiler and is mostly content-driven.
Mission Mangal opened to a figure of Rs 29.16 crore which is the biggest opener for a film starring Akshay Kumar. The film is also the biggest opener for all the other cast members. Speaking about the same, Taapsee Pannu said in an interview to a website, "People keep saying that does it take an Akshay Kumar to present a female driven film or a film where women have pivotal roles. We can also boast and say that we women together gave Akshay sir his biggest opener. We are a proud to be part of this film that's opened so huge."
Talking about the box office success of the film, Taapsee told the website, "It's a really good sign that people have been so receptive of a film that not only has big names attached to it but also has good content. We have always been seeing thunderous openings for movies that only had pure commercial masala elements but this is like a big step towards the direction where films that are heavy on content are also making a big opening."
