Should Mohra be credited to Akshay?

Mohra is listed as the biggest blockbuster in Akshay's career. But how much of it can be credited to him? When Mohra was released Akshay wasn't a big superstar. He was a newcomer who's career wasn't going that great (although that was the case with him in whole 90s decade). The movie focussed much more on Sunil Shetty. The title Mohra was synonymous to his character. Akshay was playing more of a supporting role. In popularity, both Akshay and Sunil were equal during that time, although they didn't guarantee a Hit. Naseeruddin Shah got the most praise for his performance. Credit for chartbuster songs like "Tu cheez badi" and "Tip Tip Barsa" goes to the singers and music directors... among actors it goes mostly to Raveena's cleavage.

What was Akshay's contribution to the film? Why should he be credited for the movie's success?

Don't know about that but Akki was properly humiliated by Naseer in the climax of Mohra. Bechare ko patloon utarni padi thi aur khud ko jhaapad bhi maara.

I dont know what the response was at that time but Mohra is a Akki film for me and Sunil being the supporting character ...Naseer had way more impact than Sunil...so Mohra for me is more of Akki,Raveena and Naseer...

Sunil has twice done this to Akshay. First with Mohra and second with Dhadkan.

Whilst Akshay is the lead in both, Sunil got the author-backed roles and delivered strong performances on both occasions.

Suniel definitely wasn't a supporting character. The movie started with him, telling his story even before introducing Akshay's character. He was the driving force of the film in the first half from story POV.

Did people actually forget Paresh Rawal in this one😕 he's beyond excellent...not just as a sidekick but also a spy working for the villian. he is beyond hilarious [LOL]

The director Rajiv Rai should get the first credit and then everyone else follows.

Lol. If you acc watched Mohra you'd know its an out and out Akshay movie. Okay you wanna give full credit of Cheez Badi Hai Mast to Raveena, but what about the other chartbuster Tip Tip Barsa Pani? It's the chemistry that worked!

Kajre Ki Dhar, which was my personal fav, was picturised on Sunil and the other girl but it didn't have the same impact as the former two songs I mentioned. So clearly Akshay was loved more than Sunil even back then.
