The whole world burst crackers on new years, but obviously those are eco-safe crackers made out of organic ingredients and thus does not cause air pollution even 1%......right ??

Yes,we pollute the environment throughout the year and Diwali adds up to that. Also our country is densely overpopulated so the harmful gases aren't diluted in air at once. When did Diwali become all about fireworks? We didn't even invent them.

Rather than being part of banning brigade. In this digital age people should think of doing something innovative.

Educate people, make your voice reach door to door.

Diwali was meant to be a festival of joys not about reading news next day of 100 burnt faces n lost eyes ears.

you are not getting the point........... we need videos n promotions to reduce pollution..........but there is no need to connect it with hindu festivals............. everytime world needs reforming, some or the other hindu festival is dissected............can the world not be a better place without targeting hindus and their festivals ??

here is a list of top polluted countries in the world

https://www.airvisual.com/world-most-polluted-countries

the top two dont even celebrate Diwali the way India does........ Still they are there in the list, right ?

also only 2 out of the top 10 celebrates Diwali.........yet Diwali is blamed for maximum pollution......

Yes we need to take steps to reduce pollution...........but that involves promoting anti-pollution videos through out the year.....not just before diwali.........as you can see in the image, the person promoting that video smokes herself, implying that she probably lied about her asthma.............not to mention that she herself burst one small township worth of crackers on her own wedding.........

Also this link might help stop blaming everything on India.........

Holi - diya mirza shabana aazmi other actresses etc asks us not to celebrate with colours but then they were enjoying at holi party where they all were in colours

Deewali- pollution only on deewali. Not on new year etc. Fact is kids love crackers and one day they celebrate. Stopping them from enjoying makes them sad. And then these actors use them in their weddings. India mein pollution aise bhi bahut hai. Diwali ko point out kyu sirf?

There are many but it will never end. Hypocrisy needs to be called out and people have their choice to celebrate these or not.

I am still waiting for these hypocrite celebs to ask people stop killing goats during bakar eid since they love animals and all.

You know It is not about what the world says about us. We can't control other's actions but we can make some changes and sacrifices in our lifestyle but sadly we are too selfish to do that.

Coming to Priyanka.. What do you expect from these celebrities? They live in their own bubble, they have no idea about problems of real world. When some NGO or government organizations ask them to promote something they do it as it gives them publicity and money. But that doesn't mean what she was promoting shouldn't be taken seriously.

@bold : yes, we might be selfish and we need that jolt to wake us up.........we might be the worst community in the whole world..........but its a collective issue happening all through out the year....... if just one day contributed to pollution then it wouldn't happen to this level.......

yes, the issues are there, all of them.......do we need to reform........yes we do........ can we celebrate diwali without crackers......of course we can........I and my family has been doing it since past decade........ but does that mean diwali fire crackers are the only one causing the problem..........no......so dont make it look like an issue na.........take other measures......start car-pooling, use public transport.....plant more trees and the cracker will not even seem like a problem anymore........

and this trend is visible in every Hindu festival........ every festival some or the other fake woke celeb wake up to post something negative to make the festival negative for some people.........every diwali i see the message saying think of the dog, the crackers will hurt their ears........ should we care for the dogs.......of course we should.......but then the crackers which are burst on new year, or when India wins a cricket match, equally hurt the dogs........ the entire world burst crackers during new year.....do they not have dogs.........of course they do...........shouldn't the message be circulated that time too..........

why dont these celebs speak for other festivals ? Does other festival not hurt the society at all........no, that's not true.......its just become cool to target hindu festivals............. then they do so, even when they are blatantly lying, as pointed out by @ronaldo_fan.......

anyways, this is my last reply.......i feel we are going in circles.......

Newsflash people with asthma can still smoke. India has a huge pollution problem and only gets worse when millions pollute the air together on Diwali, that’s why companies put out that message. That’s not equivalent to an occasional smoke in Miami.

The asthma Priyanka Chopra developed on Diwali has been cured and she is absolutely fine. Now she is smoking cigarette to get asthma back so that she could again ask people to not burn crackers in Diwali's pollution free advertisement.#PriyankaChopra

Ninda Turtle 2.0@NindaTurtles More

I don't understand the outrage of #PriyankaChopra smoking a cigarette and people linking it to Diwali and Asthma 1) Priyanka Chopra cares for Indian Environment so she said no to fireworks in Diwali2) She is smoking in UKHer patriotism and Nationalism is Evident!
